CB400F steering lock
« on: July 08, 2019, 06:31:22 am »
Just bought a 1975 CB400F, and it came without a steering lock key.
Can anyone advise where I might get a key. I can't see the lock number but I read somewhere that there are only 7 variations of the key.
I can buy  a new lock etc but if I fit one  then I first have to remove the rivet to remove the old lock, and I am not sure how to do this without damaging the splines.

The key should be the same as the ignition (and the seat lock), unless someone has changed it (which is suspect is why you're asking...). I don't know if the tumbler has a number on it -- someone else might come along and chime in.

Edit: Was thinking of 350F with the steering lock below the triple tree -- on the 75 400F, it's the same as the ignition switch. All you've got to do is turn your bars all the way to the left or right and a turn of the ignition key will lock them.
