Hondaman website
« on: December 17, 2012, 04:57:01 PM »
I've been searching for Mark Paris' (Hondaman's) website under sohc4shop.net.

The suggested search link takes you to what appears to be a search engine which list suggested categories for additional searches. An attractive young lady appears on this page but she's not what I want to see.

Is Mark's website down?

Well to correct the OP, the address is sohc4shop.com

But yes, it seems the domain has expired.

Hmmm...not expired, but maybe hijacked. Again. I'll see what I can do with it.  :(

It's been hijacked, messed with, redirected, and once the Paypal was hacked by someone in Europe. They started in it again in September, which is why I had to turn off that feature until I can figure something out (or maybe change to another ISP?). I'm down to Snail Mail with checks and money orders, right now.

Hondaman: The software you use for your site is also very old and has lots of security holes in it. There are robots scanning the net for certain types of webshop or CMS software, then placing all kinds of junk, links, use the server to send phishing mail, etc., etc.

I do websites and webshops for a living, and was thinking that I could help you out with upgrading to a newer, safer system. Since you do not have that many products or pages to transfer, it wouldn't take long.

I'd pretty much do it for free - as my way of giving back to this great forum. Or maybe we can swap an ignition for a site or something :)

It turned out that somehow the Billing Office lost the link between the domain and the host. Only one got renewed, the other expired. Ah, the wonders of computerized billing!

Good that its back on-line.

Let me know if the hacking and all that gets too bad. My offer still stands.

Thanks, Franky!
The site is handled by a company that has a few hundred folks who watch the servers all day long to put the sites back up after they are corrupted. It's been down several times. This is the service I am paying them for! Sometimes they do a good job, sometimes it takes them a while, or, in this case, their Billing Engine loses something in translation, and the site gets turned off because the server thought I didn't pay my bill.

Some people's kids...

Sorry to bump an old thread but here's hoping HondaMan sees this. I've tried reaching out via email but I'm getting a bounce back email, 'Quota exceeded (mailbox for user is full)'. My post count is too low (I'm assuming) to PM him on here. HondaMan, if you see this, let me know how I can reach you to get my head and swingarm rebuilt or if your email box gets cleaned up.

Thanks, Ekpent, and hi, Ramen_Man!
I keep hearing about this 'mailbox full' thing, but am not sure which of my (8 contacts) is doing it? Which one bounced the e-mail back at you?

I might need to go clear out my PMs here, I think it is up past 50 pages again. This year has been amazing: I am waist-deep in engines, carbs, swingarms, and orders for the little gizmos I make for these great bikes. I sure never expected THIS to happen during a 'shutdown'. But, I've got to meet several local SOHC4 riders who have been rebuilding theirs here, which has been fun!

What's up with the swingarm?
