Danny as the thread OP or an admin will have to modify the thread name and update the first post. As you all realize and can see, the plan wasn’t made in a day. But, easy enough to make it easy to find out The Who, what, when, and where with updates to the first post.

I imagine reservations need made pronto if there is a hope of getting cabins, provided they are going to be open.

Well all I have given this much thought and I am going to pull out for 2020.  I just cannot risk riding across country and an outbreak occur or me being in so many places just to get there.  My plan is to scrap Blue Ridge highway for 2020.  And look to do that ride in 2021 or 2022 at the latest.  I am looking forward to seeing the pics with all of you there but Dash and I will have to watch from the sidelines.   :-\
I will join you on the parkway when you do decide to go there, we can meet in Cherokee and ride the entire length and continue on to the Skyline Highway at the end
That's a deal!
. Great Mooshie, I look forward to meeting and riding with you one day, you will love this part of the country, it is beautiful

It looks like it :(

I might hit the Tail and Cherohala later this month, just for good measure and to stretch Red little bit before the winter.

Let's hope for the best in 2021  ;D

All, First sorry for not updating this thread quite a while ago.

We had a number of people drop out due to the COVID 19 situation, but for me personally the issue was that I lost my job back in April and still haven't found one, so spending money on a MC trip this year just wasn't in the cards. I hoped that I would be employed by July or August and could squeeze out a few days, but it just didn't happen. It sucks on a number of levels, but especially because my bike has been running great all summer.

Fingers crossed we will be able to pull something together for next summer.

Sorry to hear of the misfortune Danny. I hope the Uber work has been steady enough to keep you afloat until you land another full-time job.  Food delivery seems to be hot business these days.

I haven't driven since mid-March. One everything shut down there wasn't a point and I still had my regular job and didn't need to. When I lost my job the next month it wasn't worth the health risk.

I am sorry to hear that. Being out of work sucks. I have had a couple long-term unemployed stretches in my career (greater than 6 months) and it is not pleasant. I encourage you to exercise and keep a daily routine. Work your contacts of former coworker, supervisors, friends, classmates and networking contacts for job leads or references. Look into picking up some training as often your state unemployment office can finance a class if it could make you more attractive to an employer. The class would also help you keep your edge.
It is too damn easy to let an unemployment stretch mess with your head, so try to do things to keep your attitude and mental health positive and if you need antidepressants to help for a while, then accept that and view them as a temporary tool you need to use. Better to have the motivation and positive outlook they can provide than suffer with the low self-esteem or depression and the lack of drive/motivation hurt your job search and interviews.

I hope and pray your search will yield some openings and interviews and lead to a job that is as good or better than your last one.

Danny so sorry to hear about your job and the COVID fallout (for all who have been impacted in one way or another).  I'm planning on 2021 being the year to get across country again so maybe we will all have better luck when COVID levels and hopefully disappears.  Danny if you do make next year I'll bring you store bought whisky as a renewed hello!   ;D

Hi Frank..I agree with your general sentiment about how things have gone for a lot of us thus far for 2020.
I personally feel that things WILL GET BETTER..just a matter of time. I'm currently thinking by next Spring or Summer..most of us should be able to get together and ride again.

All the indicators (if we don't believe the political stuff too much) are that enough is now known about how Covid spreads..and how it can be controlled..as well as those who are most at risk and need extra protection.  Seems to me that the biggest hurdle presently..is addressing and getting over the psychological trauma that so many have experienced.

But mainly I just wanted to relate that I feel that some positive thinking is in order here..and that in itself will help us to get past the stuff of the past year.

Take care all..Cheers.. Al/Ichi
