Hey BenelliSEI and Bankerdanny,

It would probably help to post a BRIEF recap about your build (what you started with, what you did, what specialty work/parts are included, etc.) and some additional photos.  These are the few photos (above) I could find for your bikes.

For more info on my cb750F go to Project Shop section and visit my July 1, 2019 post. It’s a write up I did for our CVMG News. Better photo attached.

Let's make it easy.  Here's the post:

quote author=BenelliSEI link=topic=178166.msg2068494#msg2068494 date=1561583888]
I wrote this article for the CVMG News Letter a few months ago, thought you guys might enjoy it too.......

I purchased my 1975 Honda cb750F1 from Toronto CVMG Member Nick A. Having too much time on my Benelli 750 SEI Distraction, I wanted another Honda. Nick got the bike from a third CVMG member, “Bruce”. Nice to know it’s been owned by people that care for their machines. At some point, in the recent past, the bike was down to a bare frame. Paint on the chassis, running gear, and tank/bodywork was completed by John Connery Paint. The frame was prepped, primed and painted gloss black (as original) and the tank and seat cowl are a spectacular “Sunrise Flake Orange”. The correct factory stripes and decals were applied flawlessly and then beautifully clear coated. Kudos to Connery. As an aside, I discovered he had painted my Benelli too.
Nick had the engine out, freshened the top end and applied a fresh coat of silver paint. He polished the alloy covers and bolted up a beautiful, stainless Delkevic exhaust. Then Hindle fitted a stylish, stainless muffler, that really compliments the overall appearance. The original 4-1 Honda System is fairly massive, and virtually unobtainable (trades for stupid money), so I’ve decided to keep it the way it is.  He also built an amazing, new set of side covers, using A 3D PRINTER! Connery applied the correct matt black finish. Altogether a great looking bike. The attached photo was what caught my eye on KIJIJI. Nick was anxious to move on to another project, so I picked up the bike in late Fall of 2018.
I rode the motorcycle for a quick 30-40 kilometres blast, and concluded it ran as well as it looks. The exhaust system is relatively quiet, but has a nice “rip” when pushed....... I noted a few changes I wanted to make, thinking it would take a few days. As usual, it morphed into a bit more.
First item was the brakes. They seemed a bit softer than my other Hondas. The 1975 cb750F0 was the first year of this model. Changes from the more touring cb750K included a rear disc brake. Faced with a totally seized rear master cylinder, Nick had used a smaller, “universal”  aftermarket type. A little research and discovered the “F” used the same master as a GL1000 Gold Wing. Quick advert in the CVMG News, and I had one a few days later. Fresh pushrod, seals and boot, it bolted right in. At the front, the brake caliper was weeping. A new seal and pads put it right. The master cylinder got a good cleaning (no parts required) and a fresh coat of paint. Apex Brakes made me a nice set of new, black hoses. Brakes are improved 100%.
The bike was on a set of older, mismatched tires and the rear was looking especially sad. When I pulled it off,  I discovered that the back rim looked good, but was completely rotten. It actually folded inwards as I pried off the old tire. Polished up the hub and laced in new spokes, to a new rim. It looked so good, I tore apart the front, cleaned everything and added a new set of spokes to that end too. Most of my replica parts come from <vintgecb750.com>. A great, Ontario based company. They keep a huge inventory and my orders arrive complete, and next day. Can’t say enough about them. While the front was in the air, I polished up the fork legs and replaced the seals. I had a front fender in my inventory that looked better than the original, so that went on too. I have bins of the correct Honda hardware (too many past projects) so I replaced 99% of the old fasteners with the correct, new ones. Nothing beats a shiny bolt.
Right at the start, I’d removed all the bodywork and put it safely away. I noticed a broken front ignition coil mount, when inspecting a new wiring harness that Nick installed. While the coils were on the bench (thanks JB Weld), I recalled a very cool, brand new “C5 Electronic Ignition Kit” that came with another purchase. It’s an optically triggered system and comes with a weird set of coils. I fooled around a bit, fabricated a mounting system (no modifications to the bike) and decided to tackle it next. Rather than modify the new harness, I built a completely separate loom for the C5. (never burn any bridges, and leave an escape route). Several days later, it was all installed and working beautifully. Stripping down the area above the engine lead to a few other projects. Float bowl breather hoses are no longer missing, fuel lines and filter are new, the airbox came out, cleaned and polished. Meguirs’ make a great product called “Back to Black”. Available at Canadian Tire, it is designed for automotive black bumpers and trim. A few coats really brings old plastic parts back to life. To get a degree wheel on the crank (for the ignition installation) I had to pull off the chain, gearbox and stator covers (more polish, new gaskets and seals). While the degree wheel was in place, may as well adjust valve clearances and cam chain tension. All this to replace a broken coil mount!
Also changed some turn signals and stalks for a shinier set I had stashed away, repaired ground wires and some other details. One thing leads to another...... The speedo and tach bases had lost much of their chrome and wouldn’t you know it? Honda still sells them. $126 + tax and the front end is a bit shinier. Now I’m thinking the instruments need cleaner faces and a coat of black paint!
Yesterday I screwed in the adaptor pipes to hook up my carb synchronizing tool. The next time it’s warm enough to open up the shop door, that will get done.  Theoretically, that’s all that’s left to do. BUT, I could replace the seat cover before that tiny crack turn into a tear. The oil filter housing and centre stand both need a good scrub, maybe some paint? Probably needs and oil/filter change?  Who says winter is long?
P.S. carbs sync’d and I did replace the seat cover. Sweet Ride!

OK, with a week left in voting I will finally get some background here.

I bought this bike in October 2017, a couple months after I got back from the Family Reunion event in Colorado. I wasn't actually in the market for a bike as I was quite happy with the performance of my 550, but you know how it goes, you're cruising CraigsList and a bike pops up and next thing you know its in your garage (or in my case my sister's garage).

This bike just happened to be located in a town very close to my sister (and very far from me since we live about 50 miles apart) and the price was very good for a complete titled bike. The bike had been off the road since 1999. The guy I bought it from had purchased it from a neighbor to fix up and then didn't. Now he was moving and didn't want to bring it with him. So I drove over, took a look and made the deal and a few days later came over with a trailer and hauled it back to the garage, where it mostly sat for the next 8 months.

When I bought it the owner mentioned he had sealed the tank, which was a red flag knowing that F tanks are extra susceptible to rust. I pulled off the tank and turned it over and noticed that the channel on the bottom that runs along the perimeter was missing on the left side. Suspecting the reason I pulled out the wire cup for my drill and went to work and sure enough, the channel was missing because it was filled with Bondo. I kept going and got all the bondo out and there they were, multiple holes. I took a stab at brazing them. It didn't fail completely, but ultimately I decided to source another tank, I was lucky enough to find a solid F3 tank via the Facebook SOHC group for a very reasonable price. I went to the swap meet a Mid-Ohio to pick it up and while I was there bought a Kerker muffler from the same seller to replace the junk Kerker that came on mine. I also picked up some Frankenstuff side covers.

In May 2018 I brought it into the city to motorcycle do-it-yourself shop Moto Guild, where I had a membership. Over the course of a few months I installed an F2 rear caliper to replace the stock caliper that had a snapped bleeder, rebuilt the front caliper, installed fork seals, replaced the bars and ignition switch, installed the F3 tank I got at Mid-Ohio, installed a stock muffler I picked up, installed new tires and tubes, fixed some dodgy electric, did a 3k tune, and finally, in early July fired it up for the first time. Right at that time the owner of Moto Guild decided to close for a month to move to a new spot, so I loaded both bikes into a trailer and back down to my sister's they went.

At the same time I sold my 550, so getting the 750 fully road worthy was a higher priority. Over a couple weekends I painted the tail to sort of match the tank, found a spray color that almost matched the stock dark grey on the side covers, Decided to use the replacement Kerker even though it didn't fit quite right as the stock muffler was too quiet, then I rode it home. Over the next few months I put a couple hundred miles on it, it sat most of November and in December I rented a garage close to me and put it away.

At the tail end of summer last year I also replaced the stock rear master, which had failed, with an inexpensive modern master so that I actually had TWO brakes, and not just the one front.

Over the course of the Winter I accumulated more parts and tried to decide what color I wanted it to be. I had decided to ride it to the Carolinas in late June for a long weekend get together with friends. I also got extremely lucky and picked up an 18x3 Lester 750F wheel. I had kept the Lesters from my 550F, but only the front was useable on the 750. A saved search with e-mail alerts notified me when any "18' Lester" was posted for sale and finally one popped up for a price so low I couldn't hit 'buy it now' fast enough. I got the wheel and now I had a pair. I also decided I wanted to swap in either a GL1000 front end or an F2/3 front end to get dual disks. More Ebay and Craigslist searching found me an F3 roller in the Indianapolis area for $100. So a quick day trip to Indy and I had my front end.

More parts ordering and I had 2 new tires (I had installed new tires last year, but wanted a wider rear on the 3" Lester, so just bought a pair. The others ended up going on a friends F3 with stock Comstars). Venhill braided front lines, Godffrey thinned and drilled disks all around, new wheel bearings, a set of vintage Koni shocks, seat trim pieces, an LED tail light, smaller rear turn signals, and a Delkevic stainless steel exhaust system.

I agonized over paint, I was leaning heavily towards a shade of copper when I found the Roth Metal Flake line of spray cans and decided to go with a blue pearl with dark gold racing stripes, both over a black base. The color was inspired by the bike below that I saw on the Facebook SOHC4 group. First though I needed to take car of some tank dents, so the tank got stripped to bare metal, the dents pulled as best as I could, and filler applied to deal with the rest. A long weekend of painting was done, and I had a blue and gold bike.

Then stupidity struck. I had taken the bike to the gas station to fill up ahead of a planned trip to Kalamazoo for the Gilmore Classic Motorcycle weekend. I removed the tank to check the valve clearances and set it on a low bench with the petcock off the bench to keep pressure off it. About an hour later I hear a crash and look over to find my tank on the ground upside down, 2 big dents in the top and big scratches in the clearcoat. At that point I said the hell with it, put it on a trailer (it had no test miles and I really didn't want to ride 4 hours) and Saturday morning hauled it up. I met up with Sean Barney, we had a great ride around the beautiful central Michigan countryside, some good beer and food at a local brew pub, and Sunday morning I hauled it home and proceeded to strip the paint for attempt 2. On the way back I hit Harbor Freight for a dent pulling stud welder.

By the end of the day here is where I was.

I know. The seller had a buy it now price of $50(!) + $50 for shipping. At first glance I thought that was just the starting price of the auction. When I saw that was the actual price I hit "buy" as fast as I could. The seller thought it was a Yamaha wheel, so it didn't have any tags in it that it might be a Honda. I had a generic Lester 18" search in place.
