That is very interesting.
Have you read "High Society" by Ben Elton. It is a novel along similar lines.

Hey Turtle, I've not read it, but it's winter, TV is not my cup of tea, and
I've been hunting for new reads. Thanks, I'll check it out!

I admire those LEAP guys for their efforts, but they are shoveling sand against the tide.  Way too many people on both sides would lose way too much money if drug possesion and use are decriminalized.

Cha-ching!! Well said, don`t forget all of the job openings on the enforcement side that would be in danger of getting axed.
They might actually have to go after the real criminals :o

Many people have expressed these thoughts before. It is interesting to finally see a significant number of (past) members of law enforcement organizations finally publicly agreeing with that position.
Unfortunately as noted previously above, it's all about the money. People have spent their entire careers in the "WAR" and they know nothing else. Some are brainwashed and believe in the cause.  The others are not about to let it go and see all of that cash just disappear.

"Come senators, congressmen, please head the call, don't stand in the doorway don't block-up the hall"

"Cos the times, they are a-changing"    Bob Dylan circa 1968

Very interesting to see this happening. When I was a lot younger I used to smoke a bit of dope and was
always in fear of "narcs". Nice to see some of them reflecting on the thousands of young lives they basically destroyed.

I don't see any change comming anytime soon boys.

There are probably still some not so young now, folks in Texas prisons who got caught in the 70's
and were hit with 20 years or so. And this for pot. Coupled with the research that pot is
good for you it sure is clear beyond a doubt in my book that the government has prosecuted
a war on drugs for no real gain other than for the Law Enforcement Agencies feeding at the
Federal feed trough.

I recall seeing a segment on the History Channel about drugs in the U.S. At one time, you could get a license for pot, but to do so, you had to have it with you when you applied. However, having it with you to apply meant you could be arrested because you didn't yet have the license. How's that for bureaucratic mumbo jumbo.
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

yup. but I always thought RM would have one tucked behind his ear :D    TCs' experiences are similar to mine, but all is well now in western Canada (if one cares to participate). A small fine for possession of less than 14 grams, if enforced, but cultivating and trafficking can still be time away from home.
a new thread idea - will a bowlful allow you to corner faster?

They legalized medical pot here in California but its still federally illegal so there were a coupla counties here that didn't know what to do and shut their dispensaries down and clogged up the courts with more red tape. Mumbo jumbo indeed!!
