We are one obsessed bunch!
« on: January 30, 2007, 10:31:12 AM »
I am reading through some of these recent posts and see that our CB obsessions range from building high horsepower inline fours, shaving as much weight from our bikes as possible, dragging our knee in a long sweeper, running our bikes to 150 MPH, and  collecting rare to hard to find body kits.  Either we are a bunch of guys in mid-life crisis, or we have fallen off and hit our heads one too many times. ;D

Not me.  I'm Two obsessed. ;D

Reasoning: Two is a number.  Two is technical.  Making this a technical post deserving to be in this forum.

... you mean i could get dain bramage from head injuries?
Nah....

I think most people who have worked on CB's like 'em.

Lord knows I can't leave things alone..... Like when i got the itch to mod. my bicycle a couple years ago....
Ended up stretching the frame, lowering it, modifying the forks to use a 20" front rim, and even had a motor and gearbox  on it for a while....
25cc's+me = 42mph. Along with 160+mpg...
I just can't leave good enough alone.

If it's stock every yahoo on the block can have one.... I don't want it.(ok i'd go for a stock Delorian, lamborghini, or a new mustang)
I HATE this bigger better SUV, shiny chrome bikes, HD is better, thinking if it's not new and you didn't pay someone else to put it together for you it's trash mentality most people have....

Thats why I ride easily worked on at home bikes, have a mohawk still, have a small but comfortable house, and enjoy freaking out the local religous zealots when I get a chance...which considering i'm in utah is fairly often, sorry mormons  ;D .
I enjoy being myself....
If I wanted to be a mindless moron doing what others expected of me, i'd be stuck in gillette wyoming working at a mine like most of my uncles, buying cars I can't afford, in a house too big for my budget that I will never own.

A lemming I am not.

Yes we are obsessed and SOHC addicts and we love it. Others are porn addicts, boozers, sex addicts, hell raisers, and flakes. Wait a minute, maybe I better rethink this SOHC thing.

The temps have only reached the low 20s here and it`s not going to change soon :(
I was out in the barn last night rebuilding a transmission and my daily rider kept staring at me so I went to kick her over and the other two that run looked so sad.

I hear ya. We are expecting our coldest weather of the season so far this weekend and early next week, near to slightly below zero.  >:( So far though, minimal snow. I checked Accuweather as far out as they forecast and no sign of a break. At least that infamous rodent in Pennsylvania ;) is predicting an early spring.
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

I have to clean the drool off my keyboard everytime I look at that collection.  And to be perfectly honest, 736 can't ride them at the same time.  He's obviously got 3 too many. ;) ;) ;)

It's about -20 here over the past two weeks, no racing for me before mid April,
Can't even work on the bike in my driveway (my fingers will fall of),
So can at least do some bench racing and discuss internal combustion with you guys.

Hit in head! ;D Hit in Head! :o Mongo Hit in head! Mongo Like!

Ok I know I am not as bad as some.
But,
What would you do if you had two projects, both 72 750s with stuck engines each 90% there.
I have another 72 that runs and is the riding one. Had been sitting for 19 years.
Should I attempt to rebuild the engine(s)?

I may need the push, or another hit in the head. ;)

Actually "cafe'd" my 75 CB750F about 15 years ago while living in Minneapolis.
One Saturday while outside temp was around 25 below, I worked on the bike in my unheated garage for about 6 hours.
I did have a sunlamp shining on the bike, I guess.
Did some damage to my fingers and to this day when it gets a little cold
the fingers start hurting.
By Spring the bike was looking good, though!

Obsessed...nooooo.  Last week it was 24 degrees, and I went for a ride (grinning ear to ear) because it was going to be too cold this week (high today 4 degrees, low -8).  I am wiating for it to hit the 20's next week so I can get out again.  The carbs just got done, she purrs like a kitten, and I NEED to take it for a test ride.
