All Balls steering head spacers??
« on: July 25, 2019, 12:31:16 PM »
I just got my Amazon All-Balls 201011 steering head bearing kit. 1976 CB750. It has two spacers. Can anyone tell me if I need the thinner or thicker one? Or is there a measurement I need to take?
I love to make my bikes worthless due to high mileage!

1972…parts bike
1974…. Rusty frame but runs
1974 CB750..... Powder coated frame and parts, waiting for $$ hot rod motor.

There is a measurement - I don't recall it but I know it's in the instructions.

Do a search on the site here - typically it's the thinner one.

You may have an issue with the top bridge sitting higher than where it did with the old bearings.  The headlamp "ears" may have a gap between the top of the ears and the upper top bridge.  I had this problem on my '76 750K and '76 GL 1000.  I ended up using the old upper bearings and the new tapered bearings on the lower.  The top tapered bearing is thicker than the old ball bearing.  I believe I used the thinner washer for both bikes.

I ended up with this same issue but only by 1mm, the ears still held fine and no other issues
