An attorney drug himself home late at night. He had spent all day represnting his client James Wright, doing his best to try and get a stay of execution approved by the governer. His appeal failed however. As he pulled into his driveway, he felt completely discouraged.
As he walked into his house, his wife started in on him.
"What do you mean coming home at this hour?! Do you have any idea what time it is? I have been worried sick! The least you could do is have the courtesy to call me!"
As he muttered "yes dear", he walked over to pour himself a drink. Then as his wife continued her uniterrupted nagging. he went into the bathroom and drew a hot bath. Trying to escape his bad day, the attorney soaked in the hot bath while sippinhg on his scotch.
As he finished up his bath the phone rang. His wife answered. It was the governer's office. It seems that the governer had had a change of heart and the stay of execution had been granted after all!
Realizing what a bad day her husband had already had, the wife realized she had been too rough on him.
She opened the door to the bath to speak to him and as she did, he was bent over at the waist drying his legs.
"Honey, they aren't hanging Wright tonight!"
The attorney wheeled around and yelled:
"Don't you ever quit nagging me??"
