carb breathers?

Hey I got a question, where do those two T lines hook up to that are between 1 and 2, 3 and 4. I read somewhere that they are air vents?

Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

They areT's on my '80 CB650. What bike do you have? What kind of carbs?
