Two of the lots adjacent to us are being cleared and displacing some of the local residents:



Four and a half foot Eastern Diamondback.

Also be careful if you are checking the oil or doing any work on your car, they like the dark and warm it offers them

410 with personal defense loads (disks and balls). He was coiled to strike so it was difficult not to hit multiple spots with just one shot. Nearly took its head clear off:



A face only a mother could love! I may put forth more effort to capture any more that might show up. There is a local serpentarium that will accept live vipers, and they'll even come and remove any you find during business hours...

We try to just send them away when we are bird hunting,  don't really like to kill them. But you have to sometimes,  can't have them around people and pets. I shot one at the Colorado river and he hung about 8 to 10 inches on both ends laying on my Toyota tailgate. He was in the camp area so I kinda had to.

If you want to capture them those snake hooks work really well,  doesn't even piss them off. A buddy of mine has one and we used to catch them in the desert to show the Boy scouts on camping trips. Just scoop them up and put them in a 5 gallon bucket with a lid.

Seriously they aren't bad eating either.

Snake hooks are on my list. There have been at least two Diamondbacks that I know of that have been dispatched in our neighborhood in excess of six feet. They are nearly 5" (or more) in diameter at that length. I was thinking more like a 35 gal garbage can!

He's in the (garage) freezer right now, so serving him up has not been ruled out. I am determined to tan the hide for sure.
