Motorcycle jack stuck
« on: June 05, 2020, 11:11:07 PM »
I have a craftsman motorcycle jack. It jacks up and releases up to a certain point. I tried standing on it and releasing. I read a few tutorials and watched a few videos for twist bottle jacks. No luck. Apparently there is a release valve. I found the oil drain and closed it up quickly. The other one has an orange cap and says don't adjust. Any experience with these things?

I've had my 750k3 frame up on one in storage for the last decade Recently when I brought it home and closed out the storage unit I noticed the jack didn't want to lower. I wound up spraying the pivots and jack cylinder ram with WD40 and pumped it up to its highest position, another spritz on the ram and I tried standing on it and pressing the release pedal with a broom handle, it worked slowly but it worked. Make sure the safety stops are clipped in their out of the way position.
You can always use the ratcheting straps that came with it to apply some pressure so you don't have to waste your day standing on it waiting and hoping.

Fixed! Thanks. Now I'll look at replacing the oil. I got this thing for free a couple years ago.

Good news!

I bought mine new in the box from a local Ebay seller back in 2007 or so. Right now it's got my 750k8 engine on it. It went to the perfect height to slide the engine out of my van right onto the jack where I'll do all of the wrenching it needs, it'll live under a tarp until it's ready to go back into the frame and with a little luck I'll never have to lift or carry it.
