CB750F: How do you install the badges on the tank?
« on: August 05, 2019, 12:15:44 PM »
So the badges have posts on the back that go through holes, and then you use the "emblem fixing nuts" to hold them in place. Do you slide the fixing nuts behind the mounting bit on the tank? Not quite sure I understand how this is supposed to work.
If it's worth doing, it's worth doing twice.

Side badges and tank badges are different.

On the tank, you have these little black things that go on the emblem, and then you push the emblem onto the tank. Hard to explain but these are the parts:

The pins of the badge are fixed by barbed sleeve pins, that grab both the badge pins and the tank mount.  Supposed to be one way devices, on  ... but destroyed when removed.

I’d suggest you put the little plugs in the tank FIRST. Then push the emblems into place. The pins expand the buttons inside the holes. If they don’t stay in place when you put them in the tank (before installing the badge/ pins), use a small drop of silicone......

Yes, then push on the emblem. The silicone idea is good just don't let it dry in the holes of the fixing nut. Or a dab of grease perhaps? Or some luck.....

I gently pried mine out when I painted the tank then just pressed them back in. They never budged during 2 weeks of highway riding on my trip.
