Starter/kill question
« on: April 18, 2019, 07:37:36 PM »
I’ve got a 5 button setup wired up and every thing works fine except engine stop.  The manual says double tapping the starter button kills the motor. Mine sounds like the starter wants to turn and the bike stays running. I’m using the solenoid below.

Yes I’m using the 5 button configuration and also using an M button. The only other function I tried using multi push on was putting unit into pairing mode which worked fine with the horn button. I didn’t realize there were other multi push functions besides start/kill. What are other functions I can try out?

The m button in inside the bars.   Weird everything else seems to work consistently. Just this one function.  I’m trying to avoid having to wire another switch to the kill output.

M-Button wiring looks correct in the handlebars and wired into the kill input on the unit.  Tested some of the other button functions and everything works fine.

So I was playing around with the unit tonight. When I hit the start button I see the Led light for the ignition lights up when the bike starts and when I double click the light goes off as if I understand it correctly is the correct. So that leads me to believe that the multifunction feature of the start button is working  properly but the bike is not shutting off. Any ideas?  Maybe the starter solenoid isn’t wired up correctly?

It’s difficult to diagnose your issue without a diagram of you have it wired. Perhaps at least some clear pictures of the MU, solenoid, and switch gear would help.

So figured it out. Was a careless mistake on my part. I was following the wiring diagram/video from Revival cycles which used the older non Bluetooth M-Unit. In that diagram they had ignition tied to the aux output on the older M-Unit and I blindly did the same. So swapped my ignition wire to the ignition output on my blue unit and all works fine now. Thanks for taking the time to help out.
