I was only 6 years old but I remember my dad buying a brand new 1963 Pontiac blue and white Catalina 2 door hardtop with a 389 V8. No cat. converters, no airbags, no sensors, etc. Just motor and gas pedal. Those were the days :)

I had a dragster bicycle

Nice bike Dave!  Was it a Schwinn? [doubtful].

I had a "stingray" but my Dad built it from a standard bike, my parents were frugal Italian immigrants.

I'm in the middle, the Serra brothers lived next door. Look closely and you can see the tail of my Dad's '61 Falcon parked in the street.

And my first car was a 1970 Plymouth Barracuda, bought it from a family friend for $100! It was a hot mess!! I was 15 and didnt have a drivers license yet  [had to be 16 yo]

we found a scott bonnar reel mower at the dump, had no motor but we fashioned up some thin tin mounts and stuck a you beaut aussie victa "125" two stroke on it,we by passed the drive reduction so the chain went on a horrible angle and made up a piece of wood like a sideways skate board with pram wheels bolted on with some iron we found, you could stand on it and feather the cone clutch and once going it hauled ass much faster than you could run,it didn't steer ya had to stop and skid it around by hand,it lasted one weekend until the cast iron drum shattered, what a #$%*en racket it made up n down our cul desac, one neighbour complained,no muffler on the motor either, those were the days!

Yes, those were the days! My first car a 1969 GTO. Bought it off the lot when I was a jr. in HS. 400 V8 4 barrel in great shape. Of course back then we took off the OEM wheels for chrome mags. I worked at a DX auto shop in HS so was able to do a lot of work on it inside. Redid the interior OEM, new vinyl top, new paint. Then I broke a ring so pulled the motor and completely rebuilt it. It's a numbers matching car. Would go to car shows and cruise. Sold it in 1995 when priorities like buying a house and kids took over. Wish I still had it. Those were great cruising times. I did have the DMV run the VIN and found the car not far from me. May contact the guy to check it out.

Nice GTO Johnie. I had a 1977 Trans Am, not a GTO but a pretty nice ride. This pic is not my car but mine was a carbon copy of this one.

Couldn't go wrong with a Trans Am hall. If someone would have told me Pontiac, Oldsmobile, etc. would be no more I would not have believed them.

I grew up with a firm believe that one day they will send me to the trenches - just like in All Quiet on the Western Front.

In my grandparents back yard 60 years ago. Rope swings, sandbox. Great childhood memories here. This property is no longer in our family, but the big oak tree and chicken house( though not in very good shape) are still there. Sorry the pic is not straight.

Those were the days. I was on FB and ran across this completely by accident. This is a short clip and not very good(no sound of course) done by a classmate at my high school. I'm not in it but a quick glimpse of my 74 CB360 is. What a surprise when I saw it :o This was the only place in the parking lot for us guys who rode bikes could park them. Looks like one Yamaha and the rest Honda's 8)

We drove through the local car dealer a while back and reminisced about when we would find 2 dr Novas, Chevelles, GTO's, short bed trucks and such in the back row discounted. Usually with a 6 cyl motor but nice bodies and the occasional big V8. Those were the days. These days I watch for a nice Cummins powered diesel truck to drag my trailer around.

what ever job ya had ya got paid in cash in a paper envelope, had a list inside tax etc?lotta cash rolling around in armoured cars was always a target for crims back then?lot safer now paid direct into your bank, them days often a lady would go to the bank get pay packets made up or just haul a lotta dough back to the office to make em up behind a wooden door.

We left the factory on Friday, the first guy to the parking lot won. There was a family owned bar two blocks down the street, he cashed checks and kept the odd cents for his trouble. The story was if the guy ahead of you in line tried to rob the check guy, step aside because the bar owned kept a short shotgun down by the money box. He bent over every time to count your cash anyway, it would look like he was going for the money box and look normal.  His plan was, shoot through the bar paneling and knee cap any robber.
He never did and I never found out if it was true. Anybody that robbed that place would have been lucky to escape with his life anyway. It was a beloved local bar. Now closed along with the 3 factories that supported it.

There were so many things that were interesting being a teenager in the 70's,graduating in the late 70's everything was better then, I think. The computer age wasn't a thing yet so television and radios were the only electronic distraction, everything else was real life.
I wonder if kids from the ninetys and later have memories like allot of us do, it was a different kinda life from the 70's as far as I can see . But on occasion in different cities , I have been amazed at the way some of these kids ride wheelies, I saw one kid who rode for miles on the rear wheel  like it was nothin' lighting cigs ,talking to people  seemed as natural as could be to him. I remember it being allot more serious than that, had to concentrate or it's road rash, could never ride like that kid. How is it possible in the computer age  kids can ride like that?
A few Honda 500's, a few Honda 550's, a few Honda 650's, '72 cb 450, a couple 500/550/650 hybrids, and 2001 750.
550 Snowbike -Somebody had to do it.
