Topic: Brand new carb boot tore trying to seal leak. Help?

Seriously fuming right now as the $100 set of repro boots i got for my 78 wouldn't seal and #3 tore while trying to get it to stop leaking. Contacted the company I got them from to see if they will sell me one boot so I don't waste another $100 on holders. Hoping someone has a source for singles or can sell me one if they happen to have one. Thanks for any help and suggestions, and I apologize for the rant.

This stuff works well. I used it on some carb boot rubbers. If you don’t mind that it’s grey, Hondabond also works quite well on rubber. Make sure to lightly abrade around the surfaces and clean before applying the adhesive.

Repro rubber seems to suck!
I tested Cruzinimage carb boots for K1-K6, deep cracks after a few months, first summer.
All rubbers inside engine sucks too if not Honda. Even battery strap cracked quickly. Honda last much longer.

The Honda K1-K6 boots were better in the 80's. They seems to be softer and thinner today. Old types replaced because they were hard, not due to cracks as the later gets after a few years.

I'm sure this is the same problem for the later bikes too.

I also had a set of repro boots. You could see them flexing and pulsing with the engine strokes. Felt very poor quality. I replaced with original Honda for about $100 if I remember correctly. No issues

I picked up a set of 12 used original boots from ebay for ~25$ and a quart of rubber renue to soak them down in. Hopefully this will fix my issues and when I'm done if anyone needs a boot let me know!
