sohc4shop reviews and info.
« on: August 22, 2019, 08:22:33 am »
Looking for a shop to do the works on my 1978 cb750f engine (modify valve sleeves, 836cc bore kit with forged pistons, etc.). Can anyone testify to the "legitness" of sohc4shop? I exchanged emails with them, theyre my first choice for engine rebuild services.

Has anyone had them work on their bikes before? If so, how were the results?

Anyother places that provide similar services with lower costs?

Any info is appreciated.

Thank you in advance!

Not too concerned about freight costs. Mostly about quality.

+1 MRieck

I've purchased some of his goodies from another member. Very top shelf.
Don't know about the others personally. I wouldn't forget HondaMan either, he may not be as close to you.

Mike is our resident head porting guru, though he can provide other services and products as well. I have had great success with Kenny at Cycle X. He has really helped me with all the teething problems on my race bike and aside from the head, the motor is all his parts. He is great to deal with, fair, and very knowledgeable.
All you gotta do is do what you gotta do.

HondaMan is Mark Paris. He is a former Honda MC Master mechanic and a engineer. He is extremely knowledgeable about the SOHC4 bikes and does quality work.  His website is the sohc4shop.
Member Mooshie just had her cb550 motor rebuilt by Mark this past spring and is enjoying it. Mark and Mike Rieck are both excellent engine builders with Mike having more skills for head work and modification.  Not just anyone can properly port a SOHC4 head, if you are looking for porting work then Mike is the best. Mark does good porting work as well, just not as high end / top performance capable levels that Mike can take a head to...  Many racers on the forum trust their head work to Mike with excellent results.

Build your crate for the motor like it is going to be dropped as it is likely to happen.  Insure the package as well, far less headaches when you do...

His book is also a must have.

Mark aka Hondaman has developed a good working ignition module that improve stock points, function as well as wear and lifetime.
Both my CB750's have that. One stock, the other very modified with parts via Mike's hands.

Mark is first class. He has done 2 engines for me and i am delighted. I think you will be very happy. My last motor arrived 2 weeks ago. And modest priced too. It is  27xxx,sN K0, with a 125-00 cam and a 836. I had it shipped from Denver to Massachusetts for less than  $300 with U ship.
