Those are gorgeous.  I have a 78 blue one. It's still vettered out, it's been 950 miles in a day twice. I love to lay in into a corner and throttle out.

No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.

I bought a new 75 in candy blue green, one year color. I really liked that bike, did some almost 1000 mile long days on it. I sometimes think about finding one to bring back but I think a lot of the parts are tough to find. Great bike, they were pretty fast and no one expected it.

Those are gorgeously done CAN550!  I really like the blue one.
Very nice work on both of them.  I always appreciated the naked Wings.

Those are very nice!  The gold rims are a nice touch.  I just got back from a week in n. Carolina on my '83 aspencade, but my butt only allows sub-500 mile days!

Gold rims were std on the anniversary edition bike, so it is a stock item.

Beautiful bikes!  I have a '76 LTD which I'm restoring.  Did you repaint the LTD?  If so where did you get the decals for the side covers and "tank"?

It’s original paint, has some age related fade on top. A friend has a complete paint set if you are interested (better than on mine).

And I prefer the burgundy! I was just going through the history of Goldwings and it’s such a shame how they just get more and more covered up with plastic. All bikes do of course, but these look exceptionally nice in their birthday suits.

I agree.  Three things about the bikes of today are 1) all the shrouds and plastic covers and 2) many of the bikes have their ass end sticking up in the air with a gaping distance between the rear tire and the fender.  3) the low cafe' handlebars.  My back would be killing me after 30 min in that position.  None of these I find aesthetically/ergonomically  attractive.

Paint is in great shape for being 43 years old!  Beautiful bikes.  I have a spare set of side covers and false tank parts that I'm going to repaint to (hopefully) match the original candy burgundy the LTD came with.

Wow - nice work and nice bikes guys.

How are the earlier Gullwings (GL1000) to ride everyday?

They run forever if they're taken care of.  100K miles is common and 250K on the original engine is not unheard of.  Plenty of power for modern traffic and they actually handle pretty well with modern suspension and tires.  Rear brake is very effective, front feels wooden but works.  Braided stainless lines and smaller bore master help with feel immensely.  I brought my 78 GL back from the dead and I am very happy with it.
