Heavy duty valve springs CB650
« on: August 25, 2019, 01:16:49 AM »
Hi,
I'm looking for valve springs for my CB650 to go with a hot street/racing grind. I can only find improved valve springs for cb550. According to https://www.cmsnl.com the oem numbers differ. For the 650 I found that XR200R has the exact same oem springs. So should I get Kibblewhite springs for 550 or XR200R?

The 550 springs require a lot of shimming to get the needed seat pressure. I am going to get a set of the XR200 springs to check them out....thanks for the cross reference. Also....the 650 guides are very tall and will not work with high performance 550 cams.....you need to change the guides to 550 pieces.

Great info about guides!

So 550 bronze guides then.

Yes but the ones I’ve found are at least the same price as bronze. Anyone sourced oem guides for less than $12?
