Is it just me noticing how often “change the plugs” is the solution.......?NGK used to be the best you could get. Not so much anymore.
90% of carb problems are electrical.

Improper valve adjustment not operating the valves at the correct time? can that even be possible? forgive me if i'm hijacking this thread, it looks like it turned out well, anyways i know the rockers can be clearanced set to roll over the lobe and have some slack on the tdc comp stroke, but what odd features occur when that happens? i just assembled a top end kind of blind and just picked a random piston 1/4 when it came to the top, and put the c/s on the T mark, set the cam in with #4 on compression stroke, thinking #1 was on compression stroke (#4 cam lobes both were pointing down,) and continued on, and it hit me that there has to be something wrong, besides getting the cam gear and 1/4 pistons at the top of the cylinder in correct time, there's gotta be some upset in the firing order. but i continued and adjusted the valves with each cylinder/valve relationship was giving me this weird feeling, while watching it all turn. but it fired up. so the plugs fire every time they see the piston show up, delivering power to the c/s it couldn't be like 1 4 3 2 or whatever order they power by, it'd be like 4 1 2 3 or 4 3 2 1? not only did it get assembled like a roll of the dice, it very clearly was put with the wrong compression stroke of #4 instead of 1 and figured it'd just get worse to try and start over. i went forward.
