Riding a 750 with 4.0-18 Avon Roadriders AM26. I am not a real aggressive rider and almost always one up only. Hold pressure on rear generally between 33 and 36 PSI. Looks like I will pull tire off with a little over 6000 miles. Do you think that is reasonable life for that tire?

Yes, but pressure should be about 32 cold

I have not found anything to last longer and still have reasonable mount of grip.

i got about 10k out of my last avon . the bridgestone before that was pulled at 12k . i don't do burnouts but ride fairly aggressive when i can . the avon on the front of my 76 k6 has about 16 k on it and still in good shape

6000 miles is double milage than my rear tires lives on my K6.
1x Metzeler Lasertec, 2x Dunlop Streetsmart, all V classified.
My last tire is Heidenau K36 H tire which hopefully will live longer.
Carb testing rides is aggressive.

Sounds very similar to my Suzuki GS1100E...550lbs, 100hp approx., eats up a Continental TKV rear in 3000 miles...

I got around 8000km (5000 miles) back in the 80's with Metzeler ME99 H tire which was good then. 836cc mostly high speed touring, city relatively aggressive.
Friends complained about 3000 miles (5000km) only with the sport version of same tire, probably V speed class.

I should be very pleased to get 5000 miles on a rear tire.

My K6 has around 100hp on the wheel. Earlier with 836cc, 81hp on Dyno, still short life.

The bike get really bad behaviour with flat rear tire, snake moves, rear wobble in corners.

Thanks all. Feeling ok about it, the rear tire, and the AVON front looks to have about 1000 miles left. Both went on at the same time. BTW, I don't do it myself and always worry about a shop's ability to work with a vintage rim, tube, and tubeless tire--to get it on right and do no damage.

When stock, bout 4K. With the 836 kit, bout 3K on my gs750(With 1100 engine), just a little over 2K. The more power you put to the pavement, the less they last!

I,ve run the cheap Duro classic style tires and they work OK but the rear tread melts away like soft butter on a hot piece of toast. All about the rubber compound.

My 81 gs750 weighs 499lbs, I worked hard to get it that low, it has a 82 1100 engine with a 1166 kit and G3 cams, (leftover drag race parts when a friend upgraded, 200$ for all), it will melt the rear tire in 1st at any roll on speed.

I'll see how long the Heidenau K36 4.0-18 will last on my stock CB750K2.
How long they will live when riding the bike really slow always according to the speed limits not possible to measure.

I do not aim to more than 5000 miles/8000km.

You must have a good front brake then.
I usually consumed 3 rear on 1 front tire. This time 2.5 on my K6 that got dual front brakes.
The actual tire, Dunlop Streetsmart has rubber left but feels hard and has not as good treads as my K2's Heidenau K44 with old style treads, more treads when leaning the bike and handle muddy parking spaces better than the Dunlop that can be very slippery.
