Raask's or Tarozzi's rearsets??
« on: February 01, 2007, 09:10:33 AM »
I am looking for rearsets to fit a 1975 to 1978 frame style that look good. I realize that they are completly different styles but i can use either frame in my project. Raasks i understand are lacking quality and by the looks of them mounted on the F models don't look all that great on the brake side of the bike either. Has anyone used the raask rearsets on a 77/78 CB750F. Tarozzi emailed me a diagraham of what they say fit a 76 CB750F, but on there website they have it listed as 77/78.. Big difference. But i am having trouble visualizing them to fit any year CB750F. on the top of the diagraham it says "Kit Pedane Honda 750 F1 SS" no year?? I am wondering if the diagraham is for a twin cam early 80's CB750F. I can email the diagraham to whom ever thinks they can help because its too large to post on the forum.

well which is it, a 75 style frame or a 78? YOu really need to figure out which frame you are using before you can go ahead with this. 1975-76 Supersports have different foot control mounting than 1977-78 Supersports. The 75-76 have mounts that are similar to earlier SOHC hondas where as the 77-78 F bikes have a mount that is similar to the 79-83 DOHC bikes (although no parts interchange and you can't use the DOHC stuff on a SOHC). F1 is usually the 1977 cb750ss

Raask makes rearsets for both bikes but I only have a set for the 69-76 K (which look fine to me by the way). Raasks are not lacking in quality at all, the only problem with them is the older style aluminum foot pegs are brittle. If you ground them out in a turn they will snap, not grind. I have not heard of problems with the rubber pegs. Also bikes with heavy vibration (like two strokes) can crack the aluminum ones after a long time. The mounts however are heavy duty and if you feel like modifying them with aftermarket pegs I can see this as a posibility.

Tarrozi is about the same as raask in terms of quality, they just look more modern.

Omar's Dirt Track Racing stocks both here in the states and has pics of them on his website:

http://www.omarsdtr.com/

here is the raask 75-76F rearsets (must keep the stock aluminum mount for the brake pass through)

and the raask 77-78 F rearsets:

The only difference I can see for the 75-76F mounts from the 69-76 K mounts is the brake pedal mount.

I looked on Tarozzi's website and I do not see a listing for the 1977-78 F bikes let alone a pictue of a set. If you have a link to that please by all means post it. I do see that they have a listing for 1979-1982 DOHC bikes, which will not work with the 77-78 Fs

I´d say you´d be hard pressed to grind your Raask fotpegs on the road, as they mount quite high and the aluminium peg is shorter than the rubber ones.
The grinding peg would most likely be followed by grinding bodyparts......

I´ve had my aluminium Raask pegs for many years with no probs  :)

Wow those Raask rear-sets mount very high!  What is the comfort level like with them?  Can you ride the bike for more than 1 hour without any problems?  I was considering using raasks on my Dunstall build, but those look uncomfortable.  Does anyone know if the Tarrozzis mount any lower?  anyone have pics of their 750 with tarrozzis mounted?  Bike looks great.  I love that exhaust!

A caferacer is supposed to be uncomfortable. If you want comfort, buy a Harley  ;)

No seriously, of course it´s not comfy for longer rides, but an hour is no problem.

my previous expirence with raask was with two strokes - I have a set on my kh500 and the vibration cracked one. On the triples they mount throught the passenger pegs so it isn't hard to drag one.

As I mentioned before i realize there are significant differences in the years 75-76 and 77-78. I am more concerned about look than anything. And i don't like how you have to leave the aluminum bracket on the 75-76, but i suppose i could paint it black or something to blend. I like clean lines thats all. hahah.. i suppose i should have bought a harley...jk  I think the SOHC is the best bike ever made. The 77-78 rearsets from raask don't look like they would work.. there is a notch on the bottom of the rearset bracket that the brake arm axle  would normally go through to pivot on the orig. brake assembly. without that pivot for the brake arm axle it would flop around.. correct?

Wow ... your rearsets do mount really high up.. I Am 6'2 and i do have a set of dunstalls that i mounted in the rear pass peg holes.... it was alittle too extreme, plus my Girlfriend would like to have a place to put her feet aswell. thats one reason i am purchasing the reasets so i can keep the pass pegs.

I recently bought these Tarozzis on eBay...they haven't arrived yet, but the price was right. I'm planning on using some aluminum plate as mounts so that I can run the pegs a little lower than where they would normally sit with the standard Tarozzi mounting setup. I'm 6'5", so I need all the room I can get.  ;D If you've got the ability to mount them yourself, it's a reasonable alternative. The only bummer is that they don't come with the splined collars for the brake shaft and shifter shaft. Hopefully the seller is going to get those pieces for me from Tarozzi, but we'll see if that works out.

Ebay has been doing some off and on maintenance today (and tomorrow I think).  I had the same problem earlier today, but it cleared up in less than an hour.  Keep trying and hopefully it will correct itself for you.

I am not 100% sure so I'll have to check but I am pretty sure the pivot you are referring to passes through the frame as well as the aluminum bracket.

I'll post pics when I get them set up on my bike.

Rather than email, I think your best bet would be to just call the guy...his phone number is listed in his eBay auctions. I'd post it here, but my eBay has gone blooey for the moment too. Seemed like a legit guy although a bit frazzled. I told him about the forum here when I spoke to him on the phone and recommended that he post his rearsets in the "for sale" section.

A guy over on cb450dohcmade me aware of this bunch and, I could be wrong but, it seems like that they have some stockage on hand (you contact them, tell them what you're after) and they list the items for you to buy. They do have a nice product.

Ahh, the Tarozzi rearsets from Cosmo...I never ended up getting them. Apparently there were some shipping issues; they never arrived from Italy or the wrong color showed up or something. I'm giving the guy the benefit of the doubt though since he was very apologetic and refunded my money plus an extra 10%. I ended up buying these instead from an '03 Kawasiaki ZRX 1200R:

I'm still working out the mounting scenario but I'll definitely post pictures when I get them mounted.

Please do :)  I've got an extra set of F4i rearsets sitting around, so I'm going to figure out how to mount them - I think I will end up cutting a steel plate, bending it, and welding it to the frame with holes to mount the rearsets.

Thats my plan... a good place to look is probably the racer forums (WERA, CCS) since most of those guys discard the stock rearsets for something with more ground clearance (thats why I have an extra set - the stock F4 footpeg location can cause you to have a really bad day at the track).  If you're fitting it to the  bike, just about any yamhonzuki GSZX-RR6 set will work.

Yeah I am figuring I could fit some off of a Crocket if I ahd to.  There is this old guy near where I live that has a bunch of old hondas, kawas and the sort that I ahve gone to for parts before, but he also has some crotch rockets and the sort.  He does small engine repairs and what not and is the cheapest place I know of to get parts like that.  I got 4 blinkers from him for my 550 and he only charged me $14 so you cant go wrong with that price...............Chris
