New to the forum

Hi All,
I started on the restoration of an olive green 350 four that I inherited a few months ago. It is very original except for the 4 into 1 pipes. It has been sitting in a shed for 8 years so the carbs were all gummed up so that is the starting point.
So I have found carb kits online with various reports of satisfaction so I decided that it is time to join a forum and ask for / search for recommendations.
I already have a 77 Yamaha RD400C and 71 Ducati 450 Desmo restored, as well as a 75 Kawasaki KT250 awaiting restoration.

Looking forward to being part of the forum

Thanks for that, I transit through Auckland airport often but dont stop.
Initially the bike would not start so I pulled the carbs down. Pretty messy inside so a big cleanup and the bike ran but the float bowl overflows all leaked. So I googled rebuild kits but the reviews varied and so I joined this group to see if there was recommendations around float valve replacements. I did see that rubber tipped float valves are best but I cant find them.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to making progress with it

Cheers Dave

Dave, before you throw money at it, are the float heights correct?  Might be a simple fix.

Hi Dave - JT here from New Plymouth.
Be wary of aftermarket carb kits - they are notorious for being poor replacements for genuine Honda parts.
Brass carb parts rarely wear out so try re-using your originals if possible (float valves do wear out of course).
Cheers.

Thanks Guys for the comments and especially Robbo. Good point abut the float heights.
I think the first thing to do will be to throw some fuel down the inlet line with the float bowl(s) off and check that the float valves cut off the supply when pushed up with a finger. If I get a fuel covered hand then I guess checking the float heights becomes a bit academic.

I see that Brian at http://www.loudfastugly.com/ has carb kits and I was thinking of trying them.

Cheers Dave
