Need new Shocks-Help
« on: September 05, 2019, 02:04:28 PM »
I'm needing new shocks for the rear on my '76 CB750F. I was going to use Hagons but I think they're no longer in business. I see "Vintage CB750" offers reasonably priced ($109) Stock Length replacement shocks. Has anyone used them? (ie-part #'s 06-3623 or 06-3603) I'm no racer. Just a short trip old guy. I'm 6' 190 lbs. Looking mostly for a good ride-Thanks for any and all advice.

The USA website says:

All Items Can Be Purchased Direct From Hagon Products Ltd UK

So why don't you try that?

Found their site but no listing for a CB750F....rather deal with a US based company anyway. Thanks for the reply

I'm happy with my ikon shocks, but you won't get a set for $109.

I had some very limited time on a bike with YSS shocks and was very impressed.  Still not $109, but more affordable than the ikon's.

You don't need to buy F specific shocks.

You need shocks that have a long lower straight section to fit around the chain guard, and 110-lb straight-wound springs for your weight. Avoid the 'progressive' spring rates, as you will find them to be very squishy and will make you wobble in turns. Most progressive springs are about 90 pound start, ending in 120 to 130 lbs. The length you want is 12.9" ideally, but will find mostly 13" long ones.

I'm also in need of new shocks. I will be riding two up 90% of the time. Any thoughts on spring rate for 190 lb rider and 140 lb passenger?

Bump. I’m also interested in the best 2-up springs.

Check out the Ikons. Believe there is a member's discount for them. Has both rebound and preload unlike some others.

YSS makes a $119 pair.  not sure if they offer it with a clevis bottom.
