Rickman Project
« on: August 31, 2019, 08:34:04 AM »
Hello all,
I'm new to your forum although not to SOHC 4's.  I had a KO in the early 1970's - first bike.  Having restored bikes, mostly European, for the last 35 years I finally found a Rickman and looking at the engine it's like going back home.
I've removed the head, cylinders and most everything from the frame except the wheels and wiring harness.  It has what appears to be a stock K4 engine but I need to do a little more research.  I put an order in for a "no number" Yamiya system but will need, I think, virtually everything from the cylinder block out, in terms of flanges, fasteners, muffler guards, etc to complete the exhaust.  Do you have any recommendations on where to go to get the best package deal on these parts?

I know I'm going to have a ton of questions for this group going forward and certainly welcome any advice at all.

Regards,
Ed

What year are the cases, then we can advise  better. If its 69 or 70, they fall into 7414ish to 26 ×××, then they changed again.
 What do you have ?

Gotta luv the Rickman stuff.  1974 I assembled a Rickman cafe racer with a Z1 motor that had been built for drag racing.  Bike was realy cool.  Here's a recent pic of a Triumph Trophy motor in a Rickman chassis.

That's a lovely Metisse, Max!! Any details? I snapped this pic of a Rickman in the spectator parking lot at Laguna Seca in 1979.

The only thing that I know was that I took the picture at the Hansen Dam Ride event sponsored by the SoCal Norton Club  last November.   Jay Leno was there showing off his Vincent.  I'm a member of the San Diego  AMC. A few of us went up to the meet to check things out then did a ride up Angeles Crest.
