CB500 K0 Electrical Problem

I am replacing my starter solenoid.  There is a Green and Red wire coming directly off of the starter solenoid, and I cannot find the wire it plugs into anywhere.  Should there be another Green and Red wire nearby?
I did replace the regulator/rectifier with a Rick's unit if that makes a difference.
Also, I have a nearby short stub of wire coming directly out of the loom at the bottom of where all of the wiring is (I cannot tell its color, it appears to be black though) that is hot.
The stub of wire is stripped, as though it pulled out of its connector.  It appears that it could go to the Green and Red wire, but plugging an already hot wire into the solenoid doesn't seem to make sense. 
I have studied the wiring diagram for hours, and I can't figure it out. 
In the photo, the Green and Red wire is to the right of my thumb, and the (Black) wire is to the right of that; it is barely visible, it is just crossing over the wire with the numbers on it.

There should do 2 small wires on the solenoid, the black one connects to a black comming out of the sub loom the other to the yellow/red out of the sub loom.
You have got a later solenoid with a different colour wire is all

This is very helpful, thank you.  I pulled out an old solenoid (I rarely throw away old parts) and sure enough, it has black and yellow/red. 
The new yellow/red is connected okay, which leaves the Green/Red.  It sounds like the Green/Red was originally black, so I should connect it to the black stub coming out of the sub loom.  Do you know if the black stub is supposed to be hot?

I connected the black wire stub to the Green/Red wire coming out of the solenoid.
Now nothing works, even with the wire disconnected.

Try connecting the two small wires on the solenoid direct to the battery to see if it works, wouldnt be the first faulty new part

Solenoid good; no joy.  Everything is dead. 
My brain has gone blank trying to imagine what is wrong. 
Perhaps it is the combination rectifier/regulator from Rick's.  I will look at that next.

Nope nowt to do with reg/rec, you need a multimeter.
The black wire should be +ve 12 volt, other meter lead to ground. The yellow red should connect to ground when starter button pushed, button contacts corrode and the switch needs to ground to bars and bars to frame.
You need to methodically check it all out

I hope that you are still with me. 

The black wire that goes to the reg/rec is not hot.  That might explain why nothing works. 
I do have power going from the fuse into the loom.  According to the wiring diagram, from there it seems to go to a large junction. 
Then, there is no power going to the ignition switch.  Could it be in the junction, or a bad wire?

Could be either, it is all over 40 so anything can go wrong.
Start at battery pos then check every red joint/ connection to ign switch.

Did you check that the black wire at the key switch is powered? If not - that's a puzzler. Check the fuseblock connector and the inside of the fuse block (remove, pry off back cover). You may measure voltage on both ends of the fuse but the solder connection to the wire in back can melt and be NFG if the fuse has overheated.

Early 500 has only 1 fuse in a circular plastic holder, no fuseblock
