Float retainer on CB350 carbs
« on: February 03, 2007, 09:15:11 AM »
Hi All:

What is the trick to removing the reataining thing that keeps the float from dropping too low? For the life of me, I cannot figure this out! This has been a real stumbling point for me thus far because I cannot figure out how to remove it without damaging it.

Many thanks, Chris

Can you get the floats off without removing it?  It's been a while since I've torn a set of these carbs apart.
Post a picture if you don't get an answer.
Good luck

Hi:

Thanks for the reply. The following pictures shows the retention clip that I cannot seem to remove.

Any advice is appreciated.

The pics are a little fuzzy, have you tried to move the clips inward, away from the rivets?  Something else to try is remove the float pins, slip the floats to one side and see if the lift past the clip one side at a time.

Look up the forum user billdramp on the forum here, he has several 350's i was just at the shop today and forgot to dig into one of the carbs laying around.

Good Luck

Chris, it is only held in by the jets. The O-rings are keeping the jets in place. The piece also helps to keep the jet from falling downs because is rests on the floatbowl bottom.
You may have some jets that are juststuck tight. You could try some penetrating lub on them and twist as you pull. They'll just pop straight out. I have a set of SL 350 carbs I'm cleaning for sale and a set of CB500t carbs if you care to try a size upgrade.
