You guys are in for one hell of a treat. I'll be racing. Should be in the lowest level of the paddock though parking assignments aren't out yet. Just sign the waiver and you can get into the pits. It looks like people aren't allowed but they are. I'll be there Wednesday and practicing Thursday then swap meet Friday.
All you gotta do is do what you gotta do.

For you first timers, you definitely need to allow a few hours, to go inside the museum, you will never see so many different bikes in one place like that, the largest collection in the world and he has so many they can’t be displayed at one time!  It’s actually an all day event to see it all, I’m up for joining you guys to see it again, I’ve been there twice and still haven’t seen everything!

Absolutely.  You can spend a day in the museum.
The Wall of Death is cool. And the Fan Zone. And the paddock.  And Aces Corner. The swap meet is where I spend almost half my time.
And simply riding the tram around the perimeter road and taking in the bikes.
Bring your gear and do a test ride. Go to the VJMC setup.

Get off the tram at random stops and view the track from different vantage points. There are no bleachers. We set up in the woods across from the swap meet and leave our chairs there all weekend.  Nobody messes with them.

Be sure to catch the LeMans style start for the CB160 class. And the side cars. The Century Race is cool too.

You really can't describe it all. You just gotta see it.

The MotoAmerica races were there this past weekend and Supersport race had a bit of drama in the finish after Bobby Fong whom was leading the race wrecked into the gravel and was able to return to the track.  They red flagged and ended the race with two laps to go and Fong was declared the winner!
Nice track but it is going to be ugly for the racing during the vintage races as they were running very hard tires for the freshly paved track during the MotoAmerica races, less than 2 week old when they raced...
Most vintage racers do not have the race compounds available to them like the pro racers... Dunlop designed a new hard compound for the new track after testing...

No need to worry David, the surface should offer great adhesion. Eventually track surfaces get polished because of the 4 wheelers and Mr. Barber knows that. Soft race compound tires may suffer some but traction is what we're looking for.

Aces Corner has become overpriced for what you get. If you're a first time attendee, it's worth seeing everything.  But if you've been before, eh.... maybe it's not worth it.

You guys are killing, BTW. I hate we have to miss it this year.

Vendors, live music, beer sales (only place in the park, but you can bring a cooler), food, bike corral.  The DoTheTon members usually have a place to show their bikes for a small judged show. And there is a pretty nice view of the track up there.

Ace corner is one of the better spots to watch racing but for the additional cost might not be worth it. Plenty to see and drink (BYOB) in the pits though!

I'm new to these types of racing events...i'm scratching my head looking at the event calendar trying to figure out when the sportsman 750 race is that you will be in.  Is it Saturday? Is the time fluid?  Going into the weekend with eyes open so maybe i'll just go with the flow and meet up with members to get the lay of the land.

Damn its gonna be hot!  I forgot the south isn't cooling down as fast as us   :o ;D  Something tells me my wife may be uber'ing it back to hotel AC in the afternoon
