RIP Jessi Combs

She was cute, she loved cars and bikes, she was the real deal. I watched her on Mythbusters, I watched on All Girl Garage, and I watched her on Overhaulin'. She died doing something all of us would have loved to have tried, and learning of her passing made me sad. RIP Jessi, I hope you're hanging out with James Dean, Steve McQueen, and all the other lovers of speed who left us all too early. RIP Jessi.

I remember when I first noticed her ten years or so ago when I first started watching Power Block on The Nashville Network. One of the four car shows was called Extreme 4x4 and it was hosted by Combs and Ian Johnson, who now hosts a web based show called Big Tire Garage. The cute little blonde girl with tattoos welding up the roll cage for a serious off-road vehicle definitely wasn't the norm on TV then or now.

She definitely had serious skills both as a fabricator and as a racer, and was a very good presenter too. I will definitely miss her.

 The real deal is correct. Some folks on those shows are posers. She was for sure, not a poser.   I feel like a friend has passed and I never met her.

She was a local here in Long Beach.  She was always nice to everybody, a genuine get dirty wrencher and bad-ass, and a great role model for women getting into all things motorsport and mot--building/fab.  I met her a bunch of times and she was always easy-going.
