78 750 F forks, seal install, snap ring or not?
« on: September 18, 2019, 05:53:06 am »
Neither the stock 76f front, or the 78f front end, had seal (snap ) rings above the seals. But their is a grove for one. My clymer manual shows a seal stop ring. I don't have. But I do have internal snap rings with the pin hole in ea end. Should I use a ring or not? Every seal I've ever changed had to be pried out, don't see how they could move? The instructions that came with the last set of seals said to use ring, and a washer they supplied, because the seal actually floated up and down, with lower movement? Never heard of this, maybe generic instructions for several different bikes?  Seals due in today, and I'm busting a gut to get them in, Help!
Thanks

I personally would not run any fork seals that did not have the snap ring installed above them.
