cl 360 stripped plug hole

All,

I had an issue with my left cylinder plug threads so I took the head off and carefully placed a helicoil replacing the threads...all good and on re-assembly I cannot turn stator through full piston cycles...it feels like its hitting something....I had marked the timing chain and gear on disassembly so I'm pretty sure I got it back the way it came out...my first thought was cam was hitting something....but that makes no sense...then I remembered when putting the new threads in the head I noticed they were ridiculously close to the valve travel...im wondering if the valve could be hitting the plug contact? ...or did I put something back incorrectly causing the stop,,,,the chain tensioners came out and went back I with ease...thoughts??

Pull the plug and give it a turn.
The older I get the faster I was.

yup just did that....no turn...im sure the new threads cant be sitting low ...they look good.....

Will it turn backwards now? If it does then roll it back just a bit, then loosen the tappits all the way so there is little to no movement on the valves. With the plugs out turn it over to your TDC mark and check the cam position per your book.

It sounds like the piston may be hitting the valve, I hope not. If the cam timing is not correct then reset it then reset the tappits and check the compression.  If you bent a valve it will be low to zero.

BTW timesert is a better repair for a sparkplug, they are much stronger than a helicoil.
