OIL LEAK
« on: September 23, 2019, 07:22:16 AM »
Hello.
I now have a CB750 K1, when I start it up oil weeps/drips from the front of the engine (near no 1 cylinder) but stops when the engine gets warm. It's not a lot but I dont think for one minute it should be doing this.
Has anyone any ideas and is it somthing to worry about. Thanks in advance for your help.

Would be helpful for the people to have a better idea as to where the leak is,top end, valve cover, lower base gasket, spark plug hole area, dripping on the ground or running along a fin etc.etc.. Sounds like when the metal gets warm and expands its pinching it off. Any bolts screws loose ?

Clean it up ,start up, c what is wet, gravity will pull it down. Only run until oil starts, then shut off and search. Do not ride while testing for leak, wind will blow the oil back.

you can also clean the area where the leak is then after spraying aerosol foot powder (get the white not the clear) on the area where you think the leak is ride it around for a bit.  The leak will show very clearly thorough the powder and you can trace it to the source easier.  That is how I have identified leaks on my 550

Thanks guys for your replies, it looks like it's coming from between the head and the cylinders

Oil will flow when warm, wind make it to move. Oil will drip at cyl 1 side when parked on side stand but origins elsewhere.
I forgot to tighten the valve cover breather cover once so oil could leak and drip.
