1974 CB750 Engine Number Font
« on: October 15, 2019, 05:17:40 PM »
I was looking at a 74 CB750 on our NZ equivalent of Ebay. One of the pictures is of the engine number which looks non-original to me. However, there is also a picture of the dealers delivery certificate that quotes the same engine number. Maybe the cases got replaced at some stage and re-stamped ?

Looking at the numbers on the cases more closely, it looks like the "CB" and "E" are factory stamped, allowing the dealer to add in the 750 number in between ?
I thought replacement cases were blank ?
I'm not going to buy the bike by the way - was just killing time during my lunch break.

Nope, wrong font for both letters and numbers. Personal i wouldnt worry about a restamp it hasnt been ground out and at least it has been stamped, a lot of dealers didnt bother.
