Thanks fellas. I am not the best mechanic, but my friend is. No really he is good. I dunno if I should take paulages advice and get some cheap carb bodies and have my friend do a "transplant", or just keep my eyes and ears open like two tired said for the F carbs. I need to stick these back on the bike to atleast get it running before I dump anymore $ in it. The low miles kinda scare me. I would rather have something with 20k miles, b/c u know it was ran constantly. Anywho, Two Tired, the rest of the bike is in very good shape. The carbs were the only real upsetter. here is another pic of it so far. I really appreciate the advice. As for the other threads Paulages, what phrases should i search for? Awesome help guys, if u need any Guzzi info, lemme know, lol!!!

I`m ruuning 2 carb bodies from a 550 with 2 from a 500 due to corrosion on my original`72 500 bank, the carb bodies are identical  on the O22A and the 069As
Here are the specs for the  carbs:

CB500                                 ITEM                                                    CB550
022A                                                             Carb#                                                  069A
#100                                                          Main Jet                                                 #98
#40                                                          Slow Jet                                                  #38
2.515--2.30deg--4 grooves                        Jet Needle                                            2.495--3.00deg--2 grooves
1-1/2 +3/8 taper=12deg.                 Air Screw                                             1-1/2 +1/2 taper=18deg.
0.9x2                                                      Air Bleed Screws                                     0.7x2

Emulsion tubes were the same.

Einyodeler,
I believe you are mistaken with your posted specs., and your assertion that the emulsion tubes are the same.
What you have labeled Air Bleed screws is actually the spec for the emulsion tube holes.
The emulsion tubes have 5 positions of paired holes along it's length 0.9 diameter for the 022a and 0.7 diameter for the 069A.  See pg 165 of the Honda cb550F supplement.

That same chart has a misprint, I believe, as 022A carb show up on Cb550s but not CB500s which have all been 627A or 627B from my observation.  So, the chart is actually comparring CB550 K carbs to CB550F carbs.

I can easily believe the carb bodies (but not all internal parts) of all these can be interchanged provided you do not care about matching stamped numbers for future mechanics, and certainly if you are not running stock exhaust and air filter arrangements.  Then you can tinker with the internal bits until you either get it running the way you want, or can tolerate the thottle position foibles or spark plug deposit differences that remain.

I have summarized the carb specs as I have ferreted out and placed them in a chart in the Carb FAQ.

Cheers,

My head is starting to spin now. lol. I would rather not have to tinker with the thing too much, that's why I sold my '69 TR6. I just would like to ride this thing around town as a cummuter and my 1100 for trips. Anyway, I am going to epoxy the #2 jet into place and try to start this thing.

 :-[  :-[  :-[You`re right TT.
Just rechecked and I was looking at the 550 K manual instead of 500.
Anyway I switched everything from the 2 500s into the 550 carb bodies and they work great.
