Hey pro I may have missed this, how?what did you do to get the wheels black?
I rattlecaned the wheels black this fall before I put the bike away for the winter.
I painted them ON the bike, which meant lots of masking tape and so on.
Used some sandpaper to dull the wheels down, then some heavy duty etching primer, then
about 2 cans of Duplicolor low gloss engine enamel (with ceramic).

All in all it came out really good for a rattlecan job.
I got alittle crazy while painting and did the lower legs in black,
which I am gonna switch back to silver this spring for contrast...

I'm sure someone here can probably do better as I'm fairly new to photochop and know just enough to get by, but maybe this will help in the mean time.

It's hard to duplicate the color silver.  This is probably more between white and grey, but as I said, maybe someone else can do better.  I'll try to work on it some more if I have time.

It helps if you unfocus your eyes (i.e. use the beer goggle effect).   ;D

The silver is def. a possibility, especially with the stock/silver lower legs going back on the bike
this spring..

I have vacillated between yellow and battleship grey for the color for my cb500 redo. There is something very austere about grey that has always appealed to me.

Great looking bike ProT.

BTW, how dd you do the bobbed rear fender that is one or two of those pics? Did you cut it down yourself or buy it as it looks? Also, where did you get the rear lights? I would love to see some close up rear shots of the bike.
Thanks!

My CB750 hasn't had a rear fender on it for awhile now. The gularri seat goes up off the rear tire just enough to catch all the road grime and crap for
me not to need one. Check out some of the pics below --->

Compare those to how it looked before with all the stock crap showing out from under the seat, plus the lights being so far back --->
With the way the seat arched, I did alittle surgery to the stock inner fender so it wouldn't be seen while the seat was on the bike. Before you could see
it and it looked like crap. I also cut and moved the tail lights in closer to the bike to "tighter" everything up a bit. I am very happy with the rear of the bike, and this spring will be doing a once over on the front..

Lately I have been thining about going with the same blue my old racecar was --->

Think it would keep with the "dark" theme, yet give it some color (besides black)..

What u guys think ?

Hey Teal, I like it!! That Dark Blue is very cool. Gives it a new edge over the black and not as vintage classic as silver. A return to the 70s with attitude!

cheers

I like the blue too, but blue is my favorite color, so I'm biased.

Visuals always work better for me, so I mocked it up real quick (pulled the colors from your old car).  Warning- quick and sloppy, but hopefully you can get the idea.  If you decide to go with blue, I would definitely go w/ dark blue.  You don't want it looking like a Yamaha.   ;D

I added white three stripe on top of the tank too.  I tried yellow, but liked the white better.

Do you have another tank? Being a body man and repairing bedsides on trucks with the line-x over the tops, it is almost impossible to get that stuff off!! I would definitely get a different tank to paint, or stick with the line-x, no one else has that. 8)
The thing about common sense is that, it's not that common.

I allocated another 750 tank a few months back to repaint.
The Line-X is def. on that tank for good, no way of getting it off without destroying the tank itself.

The Line-X is def. gonna go, but what color is gonna replace it I have absolutely no friggin idea... :-\
Maybe Brittish racing green ?

ProTeal55,

A modified British 60's - 70's paint theme is what I would suggest. Keep the *classic* black for your base color as it already looks right on your bike and then add some *vintage* silver. Should be something simple as a few lines, pinstripes, scallops or a even a panel, but no racing stripes. Any stock British bike paint theme could be the directional inspiration for you in my humble opinion.

I'm also in the process of deciding on a paint theme for my CB750 and the more I look at the old factory British bike paint styles, the better I like it.  ;)

I hear what u are saying with some sorta simple design, I really do.
But if I copied, or even came close to a British style paintjob on my Honda the guys
in the Ton-Up Chicago would drag me to my death ;D..

A buddy of mine did a slick gloss black base with a white panel on the side of his CB750 tank.
I like the look allot, but I cant have the same paint as him..

Well, you certainly don't want to get on the bad side of your Ton-Up club, could be hazardous to your health  :o

I know that the British bike paint-thing is out of the question for you, but I'm liking this blue & silver color combination.

Perhaps a vintage Honda decal on top of your black paint might be all you need and still keep things simple. Such as this example:

I think I am just gonna do some experimenting with different low-gloss rattlecan jobs and see what looks the best. With how I change my mind I think I am better off with a paintjob that doesn't really cost much... 8)
