Topic: MZ 250 scrambler opinions?

'74 MZ TS250; really low miles.  Would I be getting into a bag of worms?  It sure is pretty, but...

MZ...highly under rated bikes (at least the street ones were) on the basis that when they became popular the Japanese had started their innovative ways with interesting technological advancements. This made the rather staid and technologically underwhelming MZ the ugly duckling. But they had significant price advantage (or lack of).

The obvious question would be: how complete is it? What does it need to get it back to tip-top shape?

I'm not sure what the spares situation is, but according to the Brit m/c press there are a lot of devotees over there.

Near as I can tell, it's pristine.  I've been getting the impression it was a pretty POS, though.  If you have any positive reviews, I'd love to hear them. The guy isn't too far from me.

Motor based on the 1966 ISDT winning bikes. very reliable by now as all the crap will have worn out and been replaced with better quality parts.
I used to work in a Honda/Triumph/MZ dealer.
 Usually had 500 mile service and change main bearings/seals
after that they would last for years with little or no maintainance ( change points and condensers)

Well, it's on Ebay. It only has about 500 original miles!  I've been finding out that Europeans love them.  Good looking bike, and I love the size, but it's going too high for me...

       That's too bad Uncle, sounds like you'd have a good time with it too. That's the kind of luck I usually have. Better luck next time.
