Container for spare glass fuses?
« on: October 16, 2019, 08:22:02 pm »
At some point I’ll do the blade conversion, but for now I’m stuck with glass fuses. I wanna carry some spares but I don’t want them rolling around in the tray. I thought one of those old aspirin boxes would work perfectly but they’re like $10(!) on eBay. Anyone have a clever idea?

Hey Tug, how about a vintage tin Buss fuse box from the 50s-60s? They have a sliding top, and hold 5 or 6 glass type fuses. I've got a few of them, with fuses I'll never use. ;)
Don't fix it if it ain't broke!

My 750 standard fuse block has a snap on lid that holds each of the three fuse types under the cover.

I prefer the 15A only. Most important that fuse melt before the wiring.
A small rubber box beside the fuse box.
If a fuse burn, the root cause must be found.

Small hide a key with a magnet on it. Stuff some cotton balls in there so they don't get damaged. Should be able to stick it to the bottom of the seat or the side of the battery box/holder. Very important to pad them though where ever you carry them.

Cut a piece of kitchen sponge so it fits inside your preferred container, then cut some slits in the sponge that are long enough to fit the fuses.

Put a small magnet under the sponge, then the container will be held in place wherever you decide to place it.

On long trips I used to have 35mm film canisters ducttaped to the frametubes (hidden), one with grease, one with handsoap and another with small materials like bulbs etc.

CB350Fs and a few other bikes had a small rubber fuse holder on the inside of the side cover. They'd hold 3 fuses. You could find one and glue it to the inside of a side cover or under the seat or somewhere else.

Delta....... your suggestion are made smile. I used to use “film cans” for everything! My son and I were riding together when he noticed my tail light was out. Dug around in the tank bag and the extra bulb was in a small film can. He had to ask me what it was for? Never seen one!

My F fuse block holds 2 spare fuses and as Scottly says I have a 5 pack inside my under seat F stash box.

Hmmm...lots of ideas.
On my ‘78 750, I just used the package they came in, and zip tied it to the negative cable. Been that way for years.
