New Honda CRF250 Ride Today.
« on: October 17, 2019, 04:43:04 PM »
My son and I joined 8-9 other CVMG Members today, riding the Ganaraska Forest, just south of my farm. The Forest is HUNDREDS of acres and we went to the West Forest, where a small company runs a riding school, Trail Tours. It’s the end of the season, almost nobody there. They suited us all up, then one of the instructors made sure everyone knew the basics. Few laps around a small field, practiced in some loose sand and deep mud, then climbed a few small logs.

Hundreds of miles of trails, we never doubled over anyplace I recognized. After 3 hours (mostly on the pegs), I am spent! Instructor was a great pace setter, we had a blast! These electric start, 4-stroke Hondas are incredible! Light clutch, pulls from almost a standstill in 2nd to 3rd. Quiet and go anywhere they are pointed. More than a few times today, I just looked where I wanted to go, gave it a little throttle, and there we were! Brilliantly built and a delight to ride.......

Perfect Day, COOL, but we dressed up a bit! It rained over 30mm in the past 24 hrs, so we had a great mix of pack, mud, sand and leaves. It was a hoot and nobody went down......

Yeah, it will spank a barrel full of monkeys...although it does require a bit of restraint with the throttle tube, lest one find oneself sliding down the street on ones back

I was amazed by the low down torque of the 250. Most of the narrow track riding was done in third gear and with a little clutch work, the pull was really staunch! The 450 must have some serious GRUNT!

Yeah, it is healthy and revs out too.  I actually got this bike to develop my trail riding skills.  A 250 would have been the better choice for my skill level (low).  But when guys want to trade, I couldn't resist!
