Topic: Marving 4 into 2 exhaust on the 500?

Hello! My beloved Honda Cb500 four 1972 model is in need of a new exhaust system. My right hand side is fine, as seen in this video:

The lover left muffler have something loose inside and the upper left muffler has a big hole which has been temporarily mended by an idiot (me).

Been looking at the local ebay pages as well as other european ebay sites. DS and CMSNL has also been contacted but the end resault is always the same: New 4 into 4 exhaust is extremely expensive :/

My bike is pretty much stock, Boyer ignition and coils and 100 main jets instead of 78 which was standard in Norway.
I bought the bike for 30 000NOK, about 3000 punds, and there is no way in hell that I'm gonna spend half of that on new exhaust.

I like the vintage look, so I was lookin into the 4 into 2 solution from Marving which can bolt directly on the existing downpipes. Anyone tried these?

I have a Marving 6-2 on my CBX.  My only complaint is they're too damn quiet!

is it a deeper sound than stock or is it muted up the revs.. or just plain silent?

Thanks! Anyone have tried these 4 - 2 Marvings before? They told me that they bolt straigt on the old downpipes, but will there be some welding as well?

This is a way way old thread, but as I'm considering replacing the 4 into 1 on CB500K1 with the Marving 4 into 2 as mentioned above, has there been anyone in the intervening 5 years that's gone down this road??
I have Marving 4 into 2 on Suzuki GS750 and they work well without any jet changes.

Good morning Mikal. I have a 1973 cb500. It's stock except for the 4 into 1 exhaust. The previous owner had it put on in 1983. It's made by WINNING. I read somewhere Honda was putting these exhausts on by the 100's to replace the original 4 into 4 exhaust. My carbs & airbox is stock & the bike seems to run very well. I have no issues other than the fact that I really want to get some original pipes like you have & replace the 4 into 1 exhaust only because I like the look of the original exhaust. I'm sorry you are so far away because I would love to have your exhaust if you replace it. I have been on the internet looking at exhaust systems but haven't found anything yet to accommodate my pocketbook. Scott.
