New guy, first bike. CB500 on Ebay.
« on: October 24, 2019, 07:21:05 PM »
Just bought a cafe racer-styled '72 CB500 on Ebay, and I Want to get ahead of maintenance, mods, upgrades, servicing, etc. I'd like to go look up the Serial number somewhere, but it's not in the standard, 17-digit VIN format (apparently the format was different back in the day).

Anyone know where I can go to lookup the serial number and get information on the model?

Hello from NE MN,

Did a quick google search and see CF500 is an ATV.  Did you mean CB500?

First off, welcome to SOHC, the CB500 is a fine bike.

Secondly, there is no "VIN lookup".

However, click the link below and you can confirm the year your frame and motor were manufactured.
And the numbers will not be an exact match as the frame and motor were manufactured in different factories and mated later.

VIN will not tell you what color paint it had or if it came with an auto trans...it didnt!
