CB550 Frame
« on: November 05, 2019, 02:55:55 AM »
Good morning,

Just a quick question, I have a 78 CB550 (that has frame damage) would a 76 frame be the same (someone is selling one local to me which seems rare in the UK).

Thanks for your help.

No, not if yours is a K3 or K4 and the one offered is a K2.

David, if you are in UK come and join the UK SITE
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

In terms of the motor bolting straight in, the frames are equal. There are slight differences for bodywork and swing arms, but get the whole frame and you're fine.

As long as it's a K frame, your bits should work.  You may need the correct axle spacers for the rear wheel if you're using the earlier swing arm, too.

Also the Shaft, Brake Pivot are different lengths so, the tubes that house this part are different which is part of the frame  ;)
Foot peg mounts on the F1 & F2 are on the frame, K foot pegs mount on the rear engine hanger bolt  ;)
