Here's my K4 Picked up the previous owner had intentions of turning into a cafe racer but lost interest somewhere between purchasing it and the first step thankfully, I plan on getting the bike rideable for this season and putting a few thousand miles on it before doing any serious work to the bike. but for now here's what I want to get done for this riding season.

-Carbs sorted balanced etc
-Brakes fixed, new stainless lines, modern master cylinder potential upgrade to disc via EBC
-Respoke wheels and replace rear hoop.
-Install Hondaman ignition
-New handlebars mirrors etc.
-Hagon/Ikon shock upgrade
-Progressive front or potentially emulators from racetech depending on budget
-Rear swingarm bushings
-H4/LED headlight as my daily commute involves night riding
-Small fixes along the way as per HondaMan's fantastic book that I got in the mail today and obviously all the neglected periodic maintenance not mentioned on this list
-Potentially complete HondaMan's advised cheap top end mods/Blueprint engine back to K0 spec, porting etc. and install frame access kit

My intentions are to get this bike ready for spirited riding and reliable enough long trips, I want to preserve the classic look but going 100% OEM perfection isn't in the budget so I'm going to play it by year on that paint and non-reliability focused changes are going to be reserved for the second phase of working on this bike but I do want it presentable.

I'm going to try and upload a video each weekend on this project and try and include as many photos as I can, any suggestions are more than welcome along the way!

Today I pulled the carbs and found a mismatched float valve on carburetor 2, threw them in the ultrasonic cleaner (Underwhelming results) and synced them. going to attempt to soften the intakes as they re very stiff but not cracked in some wintergreen oil tomorrow and try and get them hooked up for a first start.

Also cleaned up the tank as best I could but the clearcoat was going and the polish I was using was just eating more and more away so I had to call it good enough at a certain point but I'm actually happy with the results It'll do for the time being.

If anyone has any suggestions for areas I might be overlooking along the way I'd appreciate the feedback as this is my first old large displacement project.

Do your homework before you install a "modern" master cylinder.

Got a set of old Koni shocks off a bike that was being parted for next to nothing so I'm way ahead on that, they definitely need a rebuild but I really enjoy the period correct modification definitely going to be a nice touch once I rebuild them.

I got the bike started for the first time yesterday unfortunately gas started pouring out of two of my carbs so still need sort something out with that I think it might be debris coming down from the tank and the antique liner that's. Slow going during the work week unfortunately tons of overtime, hopefully I'll get it sorted this weekend a take of for a spin before taking everything back off for cleaning and detailing.

Definitely going to put an order in on the frame kit soon but parts are piling up faster than I can get them sorted quickly so one step at a time.

You can get spare parts for the the KONI's or have them rebuilt by Nils (Noblehops) here on the forum.  He's an authorized IKON dealer.

The K4 is a great bike for making into a reliable tourer ready for those high-spirited runs. This is is exactly what I have been doing for the last 19 years with my K4. Check out my signature line for trips and details.

Noticed something weird with the swing this block seems to be for relocating the shock I assume a little unclear as to why someone would do that.

Got a few days off work so hoping to make some progress I do Ally finished the rear wheel respoking it ended up being a lot more than I expected going into it but I'm really happy with the results!

Still tons to do but it's coming alone I used the Wintergreen soltuion and heat to soften the intakes and it was a huge success on the boots from the carbs to the engine but the boots to the airbox seemed to disintegrate so I'm replacing them.

Replacing the rim was definitely more difficult than it looked but I think it paid off.

I found this vintage Harley 40 spoke rim on sale for 20 dollars a great deal and laced up well once I learned how to lace rims haha
