Man CUP, Valdosta Georgia
« on: October 31, 2019, 06:33:16 am »
Are there many SOHC members planning to go to Valdosta? I'm planning to make my maiden voyage there.

Yes, i do plan to be there with at least two SOHC bikes. My red F model  is in serious need of a freshen up  but i think it will hold up for  one more weekend  of racing. I won't be able to find anyone to freshen up the head before  this  event.  Hopefully we'll arrive on Thursday night.  I need to test the new bike friday and then let my brother get some seat time on it before first time run friday night.

See you guys there.

Mike, i need to get with you at the finals to talk about the possibility of arrangements for one of your world famous valve jobs on my F model. Need to replace those stock Honda valves with a set of stainless steel valves. Wish i could put some titanium intake valves in it instead.

Good question Dragracer….. at least you'll have yours there.
Mike, I hope to connect with you at some point there, so I can shake your hand and thank you for the nice head work you did for my K1.
Looks like my motel is about a half hour north of the track, since local rooms must have filled up months ago.

Trying to get a little ahead of the game. Its time for some pre-race maintenance to the F model. I'm glad I pulled it out of the corner tonight. I found the rear tire to be flat. I was able to locate a small nail. Just enough to cause a slow leak. Oh well,  I  figured i would get a bit more use out of this Shinko but I'll be ordering a new one tomorrow and have it mounted by the end of the week.  In the meantime,  it'll get an oil and filter change and spark plug replacement.  I kind of need to pull and clean the carbs but it's probably not going to happen this time around.  I've still got to finish the F1  project bike before this race.  Time is not on my side in all cases.

It now seems like Wilbur and I are the only SOHC racers who intend to compete at this event. Hmm, not certain what happened to all of our fellow drag fanatics given the fact this is the 50th anniversary of the 750 and the last real event of the season to showcase a bike.

By the way, Wilbur made the trek from central Florida a few weeks about to compete in a race in a race that I coordinated. He was 1 of 2 Honda's on the property. The other was a DOHC wheelie bar bike owned by my friend, Dana Delk out of Charleston, SC. Wilbur represented the SOHC community well.

Looking forward to seeing those who do plan to attend this race, as spectators, in a few weeks. If all goes as intended, I hope to show you guys a 9 second pass on the scoreboard with the new bike. Go, or blow. Lol
