Topic: cb400f oil pump o rings

I have found a great post here on the forum about the o ring dimensions and ordered these rings.
Al fits wel but when rebuilding my pump I noticed I don't have the two o rings for the front litle cover for the
secundairy impeller. Does somone have the dimensions for these o rings?

They are not on the partslist that I have.

Sorry can't help with sizes. There is no part Honda number for any of 400F oil pump part, only the entire pump is listed in the parts fiche. If I find time I will measure used O-rings, but that may not be entirely accurate as they distort when compressed for decades.
Metric O-rings are sized by cord diameter and ring diameter like inch ones, but almost every inch size O-ring you will ever come across will be one of around 500 "standard" numbered sizes, these were set up to standardize parts used in military production. Metric... there are many thousands of sizes and no standardization.
If you can find a standard inch size that will fit "good enough" you will be able to get them easily. If you find out the exact metric size needed you may have problems buying less than 500 or 1000.

I noticed that,verry strange. These rings do get hard with time and I can't imagine you would change an
entire pump just for this. I was hoping sombody would have found some rings in the past.
Ordering metric rings in small ammounts is no problem,i live in Belgium Europe;its al metric here.
I wil have a go in messuring the old rings and than ordering some sizes and trial and error fitting them.

If you entre Honda CB350/4 Four, CB400/4 Four SOHC oil pump O ring kit in a ebay search you will find a full O ring kit

I wouldn't pull out and apart a pump in my bike for you... I have a loose one in a box of various spares pulled from a donor bike.

Hey Bodi, I think there's some confusion.
I meant that it is strange that honda did not offer these rings as a separate part. It would be strange to replace an entire pump for just two defective rings

Honda dont supply rebuild parts for any oil pump, i think their idea was any problem deserves a pump.

Not entirely true, some bikes do have pump parts available. 400F... no.

I dont knowof any of the sohc 4 that Honda suply any internal parts for, other people have put together kits and it was me that found a GL 1000 O ring fitted the cover on the 500/550.

GL1000 is, if a stretch, an SOHC4. You can get pump rotors for them (or could, once... prob NLA).

I spent quite some time measuring casing, rotor and cover comming up with a size of 46x2 which i had to buy in quantities i didnt want then found that the GL 1000 one was the same size, dearer when bought individually but i didnt want 1000 of them!
I know that Julie has gone to the same trouble with the 400 one and she and Trigger buy lots of different O rings so its worth it.
