  • So, what do ya wanna talk about today?
Okay, I give up mate, what does it mean? ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

If the engine's out of the frame you should be able to helicoil the plug hole without removing the head, I've done it myself and it's not hard. Make sure you use plenty of grease on the tap so no more particles fall in the cylinder, and a little "Loctite" on the helicoil will keep it from winding out again when you remove the plug next time.

when i called adam (the dude who is putting in the helicoil) he told me the same thing-do not pull the head...except i think he swore a few times in there...the main reason i was going to pull the head was so that i could take the subway over to his shop and not have to get a ride from anyone...but i think i have a ride lined up now anyway.

Don't pull the head Andy, or you'll be up for a heap more money, some dealers here charge 100+ bucks just for a head gasket, and that's before labour! If you leave it together you're only probably looking at 50 bucks for the helicoil and labour. Cheers, Terry. ;D

Andrew, Don't pay too much attention to Terry.  After you've spent two grand he'll say "Oh, well, it's only money mate!"
