Oldtimer returns...
« on: November 14, 2019, 09:23:36 PM »
Hi, all.  I was somewhat active here many, uh, many years ago under the username jotor.  Recently I dug my old 400F out of storage and have decided to put it back on the road.  I also still have the blue '82 Nighthawk I bought new in the spring of 1983.

Thanks.  The seat unit and drum brake front wheel are actually from a CJ360.  Joe

dang!  that is cool.  I knew the 400 and the 360 shared some parts but that tail section looks slick.  How hard was it to get fitted?  And welcome back!

Thanks.  The seat and tail section are all one piece.  I put  a tab on the front that slides under the rubber tank mount and made a couple of clips to bolt the back down to the two rear fender top bolts.  I had to cut the 400F seat mounts off the frame.  The CJ360 front wheel is a bolt on to the 400F frame.  I think I had to make one spacer.  Larger headlight is from a CB650.  Muffler is an original Dunstall that a friend donated to the project.  Muffler has a sticker on it that says "Joyful Noise".  :^)
