Clutch Snap ring not setting / with Thrust washer
« on: November 18, 2019, 10:59:44 AM »
Ok gentlemen.. trying to install the snap ring to hold the clutch basket in, and it is not setting in the groove.   We did have the engine spilt. Is there a chance we didn't get the output shaft set correctly? Will snap in if the thrust washer is missing but as mentioned by someone else that'll create metal shavings with the shifter attachment bolt.    Not 100% sure we have the right thrust washer (need the thickness).  We are kind of dumbfounded.   Any ideas ?

I take it is a new washer can you try the old one or measure them both?

Sounds like you might have something in the wrong place or wrong order, why did you split the cases and what did you change?

We split the case because we wanted to inspect the shifter / transmission, main bearings and etc.  Partially a learning experience too.   We found all well, ultimately we didn't remove the crank,  output shaft or main chain.

As you didnt change anything i suspect something is in the wrong place or the wrong way round then

Clutch basket can not be fully seated onto the prim hub shaft and circlip mounted.?

Thrust washer A, placed  between primary hub and the bearing inside of it?
The one that look like a dirt stopper into the needle bearings.

The bearing on the shaft and the larger bearing 6008 on hub shaft are fixed and locked to the upper case. Is the outer 6008  bearing moved on hub shaft?

K6 and later have that setup.
