Mel Kenyon Suzuki V8
« on: November 21, 2019, 08:52:27 AM »
I found a facebook marketplace ad for a Mel Kenyon V8. It's a crank and crankcase that takes gs1100 cylinders and heads using a new scat crankshaft. It includes a previous broken engine to provide machining information It's on for $5500 and I'm amazed at the possibilities. I remember that name from circle track racing. If there were no prior projects in my shop and a full checking account I'd have to own it.
A single stock GS1100 is around a hundred HP, a v8 would be a serious beast if a guy could fit it into a bike. I'm unsure of what clutch and assume a dry sump oiling system but a Harley trans might work. Even inline like a BossHoss with a torque converter.

Apparently it's a sesco block for a midget car. The oil and fuel pumps and distributor are belt driven. There is also a Hayabusa V8 possibly still in production.  Apparently there was no Honda sohc version but wouldn't that be awesome? Scat made the cranks.

There was a company in the UK that made V8's for Radical using Busa parts.  Not sure if they are still around.

I believe the Hyabusa V8 was/is made in the UK for a road race car. I've built a car or two but a radical V8 bike would be awesome.

The JFC guys in Auburn WA have developed a V-8 Hyabusa engine for their Prototype endurance racer. Hope I get to see it run at the Thunderhill 25hr endurance race in a few weeks.
You can see pictures of it on their Facebook site.
