Exhaust pipe cross-compatibility for k7 750?
« on: November 16, 2019, 07:30:05 PM »
Just looking for some info. I'm wondering if anyone knows whether the exhaust systems for any of Honda's other SOHC4 models or ranges of years would work on my bike? I have an old vintage MAC exhaust on it now that's beat. Would love a new set of pipes some day, just kinda wanted to know if I had any wiggle room with what I could buy!

i believe the k7 used the 405 model 4into4s.  not sure you could use earlier model k pipes.  lots of folks rave about delkevic.  https://delkevic.com/motorcycles/honda/1977-models/cb750k-sohc/

K7/8 have a different style collar for connecting to the motor, they have the built in flange as opposed to the earlier ones with the split slip fitting.

The differences are the collar at the motor early vs late, the hardware at the head can be swapped. Another difference is the length at the rear of the frame with the newer bikes being a little longer, the rear mounts may be further back. I have a K2 750 with a vance and hines 1100 DOHC header on it so there are many pipes that will swap. One that will be an issue are the F0/F1 frames at the brake pedal.
No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.

Don,
You once queried, does it fit..?  In reference to a 2014 cb1100 factory stainless header fitting a 750 sohc. Well, yes and no. The 2014 CB1100 header uses the half collars like early sohc and fits in the head ok.
However, the 2014 exhaust ports have been raised, a bunch, but the exhaust studs were not. So the exhaust flange bolt holes and pipe are on different centerlines.

Edit: It does have a nice O2 sensor bung already welded in place for the wide band.
