SUPER BOWL 41
« on: February 04, 2007, 07:59:06 PM »
So what do ya think????.....
I thought the slippin'& slidin' was cool.
I liked a couple of the commercials (the bud commercial----rock,paper,scissors was a hoot!)
Prince always has and still does "SUCK!!"
I picked Indi and 47 total points and it was Indi and 46 points......good enough to win the pool! (only 8 people in this one though!
I'm glad Indi won....they deserved it.....the Bears would have also but they already went once.

WOOHOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! COLTS WON!

I liked that commercial too. I also liked the Bud Light one with the hitchhikers ("He's got Bud Light." "And a chainsaw!") And the one where they slap each other instead of the fist bump.
Prince? He was such an obvious choice! When you think football, who else comes to mind?  ::) It was pretty funny when his guitar was making his shadow look "augmented" though.  :D

Go Cards!! Go Colts!! Go Bucks!!

That was the best superbowl halftime show I've seen in a long time.  But I just wish Prince had actually sung some of his OWN songs!  (What the hell?  Why is Prince singing Foo Fighters?!)

And the rain certainly made the technical play much more interesting.  I'm thinking that's why the Colts won in the end...  They simply have more technical ability than the Bears had!  Props go out to ole' Peyton.  Although I must admit, the Bears held their own and performed admirably.  But those interceptions just killed them!

I was pleased that the Colts won but all the praise that Manning got at the end, I think was a bit unjustified.
Although he had a good game, I think it started to go wrong for the Bears in the third quarter when Grossman got sacked twice.
The first incident was due to a slip, the second due to a fumble at the snap,...neither anything to do with Manning.
In the last quarter, the Colts defence put the game beyond dought with two good interceptions, the best resulting in a touch down by the #26 defence player who kept the ball in play right on the touch line and with a fine run was able to score, again nothing to do with Manning.

Just my two cents worth ;D ;D ;D don't take it to heart, remember,

Well, Sammy, looking at this: http://www.superbowl.com/gamecenter/recap/NFL_20070204_IND@CHI it looks like the Colts would've won even if you take away the turnovers. And yes, the interception/TD had as much to do with Manning as the opening kickoff return/TD had to do with Grossman.  ;) I think the praise for Manning at the end was more for his career as it was for that one game. Love him or hate him you can't deny that he's an excellent QB.  ;D

As for Grossman, he has the potential to be great but he needs a little more experience. Next year, or the year after, he'll really be tough to beat. I hope (for the Bears' sake) that they keep a good team around him.

I thought it was a good game and both teams fought well. Maybe not their best work, but.........

Well Rushy and Fred, I have to agree, it was a good game, played in very poor weather conditions.

What you have to remember is, I am only an onlooker, definitley no expert comenting on a game I like but don't fully understand ;D

American football is a genuine game unlike soccer. Soccer is a game played by a load of overpaid nancy actors who start crying and screaming penalty if you get within ten feet of them :D :D :D :D :D :D

What's the betting that I get a load of abuse from my fellow country men for saying that. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

There is a little snipet sound sample that keeps being played on the radio here. "The Bears still suck"  :D

I do not care either way. Not really a sports fan here.

Damned right ;D

I can't see any of them pansy assed nancies rushing off to get 24 stitches in their lip, then coming straight back on to bag a record points haul in their first international game in over three years 8)
Oh, I forgot they don't play American 'Football' at international level do they? No fecker else plays it ::)

It was (I'm sorry to say) an event that was determined at the start of the season, at least for the Bears.  It seem to me that the Bears depend on winning by pure luck in most cases.  Mainly mistakes made by the other teams, and then being in the right place at the right time.  There's the other teams' missed field goal attempts, fumbles, touchbacks etc.  And sometimes Chicago is their own worst enemy.  I'm from the Chicago area, and the Bears have been "my" team, but.....  We have a popular saying around here "Maybe NEXT year".  :(

Pats fan here. Good for the Colts. I don't like Manning but he is certainly deserving. I am happy for Dungy though. I'm glad to see him win a Superbowl. Lets hope the competition between the Pats and Colts remains strong... makes the game fun when you have rivalrys. Does Manning ALWAYS have to make that stupid face when something doesn't go his way? He looks like a crybaby...  ;)

Now, I've played soccer, football and rugby in my day. Of all three, rugby was my favorite. No pads, no nancies, no stoppage... just play. Soccer would be the runner up. I suppose I like those sports better more because there are no breaks during the game. You play straight through. Rugby must be the most exhausting sport ever, not only are you running ALL game you are physically pushing, shoving, and hitting all game long. In my case, I was doing it against guys twice my size. Loved it.
