New member. American in Italy. CB400 Four
« on: December 24, 2019, 12:45:44 PM »
Hi. I just bought a CB 400 this month from an 81 year old Italian man who spoke zero English. Paper says it’s a 77 but it could be a 76. I posted a photo in CB 400 Gallery. Can you tell what model year this is? First registered in March 1977. I’m attaching photos here too.

Hey Louie...welcome from Texas.   I love Italy and was first interested in scooters on my first trip there as a boy!  What region are you in?

You should be able to determine the model by the VIN, here is more info....

Louie, what is mounted on the left side of the bike just forward of the shock? Is that a water bottle?

That cylinder is a portable compressed can to fill a flat tire, it's a fix-a-flat.  I got it like that.  I probably won't use it.

It looks like, after looking at the frame and motor number ranges, this bike is a 76.  What is more sought after, a CB 400 Four F model 75, 76, or 77?  I thought it was a 77 because it was registered as 77 in Italy, that's the year it was first registered.
